That's a fallacy, all we would have done was trade out some later picks or fringe player/s for points then collated a small handful of third round picks to match whatever bid came for him, and kept our first rounder to use on Selwood.
It's exactly what the lions have done and will do again this draft.
What we likely would have missed out on was anyone we picked up after aside those 2.

The northern state teams are heavily subsidised by the afl, so it is the afl’s money anyway.

I don't actually think we set anything up for East Arnhem. The place is so sparsely populated and so close to Darwin i think all the kids who can play just go to Darwin and end up in the suns academy
