I know it's unrelated to us...

But can anyone explain why Petracca would go to the Suns? They have a terrific midfield already, and aren't really lacking in that space. I know Petracca can be handy in the forward line too. But he's predominantly an inside mid.

Or to put it into context that might be relevant to us... does this shake things up at Gold Coast at all? ie, are there any fringe midfielders that drop down the pecking order?

The suns are primed for a flag run by a proven coach, it makes total sense for trac. Can foresee the VFL outrage when its Lions v Suns GF for the next 3 years.

Do the suns have the trade capital for Trac plus top 5 academy? Feels like this will throw a cat amongst the trade pigeons.

Stupid theories aside, there is one question I want people to consider

Why is it that the only journalist who had virtually the exact details of the assistance package at least a week before it was decided/announced, also linked the priority pick he was saying West Coast would get as being traded to Brisbane for Starcevich - who as far as we knew had yet to make a decision on his future.

Twomey can either see the future or he was told what was happening, including an agreed trade price for Starcevich. Our goal was to get Starcevich to the club without diluting our FA compensation which appears to be happening.

Brisbane being the prime beneficiary of the process ultimately settled on is entirely coincidental and nothing to do with their former CEO being in charge of that process
We've got no issue trading pick 19 for Starcevich, but only if it comes with Neale and Dev too

Humphrey is a gun but not sure he'll ever have the tank to be a full time mid. A better version of Hewett basically. Same draft I think.

Let's offer Humphry midfield time.

Pick 2 for Humphry and Davies
I dont know about that..if anything offer gold coast our future first for Walter with pick swaps to make it bit fairer.

Keep our picks and use them this year

Can anyone tell me why it's even pick 19 when we have the very next selection at pick 20?

What club in their right mind makes a trade which includes the higher of 2 draft selections that are back to back?
Fully agree, but TBF lets assume we do trade 19 and brisbane use it in the matching process for Annable it'll get eaten up so effectively the picks would be the same for us. Except we have to wait 21 hours to use...

This reaks of the same au de shitfume that North compo did when Laura Kane just took over her AFL gig from checks notes North Melbourne

Cal’s normally on the money Puma. Best case scenario from here we use 17,25,39 to get pick 7 then trade 57 for Tyler Young leaving us with 1,2,7.

Then watch us take Duursma, CDT 1-2 and reach for Farrow at 7 leaving every midfielder on the table despite Pyke’s comments.

Could get very, very melty very, very quickly in here.
We get melty because we miss out on what we were never getting. There has never been a reason that the Suns will definitely trade pick 7 to us.

Never been actual links to Neale, Bont, Flanders, Davies ect ect.

It’s mostly all made up in here and then everyone loses their minds when it doesn’t happen.

We won’t win trade week or the draft in the way most in here want it to happen because most of our proposals are pie in the sky stuff.

we consider every player not selecting to come to west coast as personal failure of Clarke. no player has the right to select to go elsewhere without our say so.

on Starc, we are shitty only because afl didn't allow us to pre-list him. at end of day, if you look at it in isolation, Brisbane have us by the balls.

I think there will be some traction for Davies trade with this happening.
Hopefully WC.

The impartiality of Aunty Laura will haunt us for a few years more

The suns pick is really just objective maths. We have (had) the most points, taking a lesser offer would be illogical by the suns.

Trade targets comment is fair enough, clubs will take the offer that suits them provided the player is on board.

If what Cal said is right we have been played like a fiddle for Starcevich, has little to do with expectation. There is no way we haven’t made a commitment not to bid on Annable. Nearly 900 points of bargaining power gone. Switch the narrative. Stick to your band 1 offer TODAY Lions or Annable is bid on at pick 1 and Starcevich goes PSD.

I'm of the opinion that this off season is going to be great no matter what happens. We'll get some senior talent in, some high draft picks. Got a new high performance boss from Freo, Mitch Duncan for the back line.

We finally snagged our white whale - sexy sexy Devon. We're going to be flying high in no time.

I would hate to be constantly pissed off about things that haven't happened yet.
Imagine if we still had Hams, then all wed need is a Salami

Let's offer Humphry midfield time.

Pick 2 for Humphry and Davies
This, only want Humphreys number 1 and option 2 Davies.
Humphreys is just coming into break out time and is the bull inside mid who has good speed, balanced and damaging, HR lite!!
I would give pick 2 for Humphreys.

It’s actually Allen for pick 2 and Starc, that’s what most people aren’t seeing.Thats massive overs for Allen.

We asked for Starc to be exempted from FA compensation, AFL house said no it’s outside the rules, you will have to trade for him but we can help you with that because we can give assistance to clubs when we choose to.

The AFL has allowed us to get maximum value for Allen whilst not having to use our own picks to trade for Starc by giving us the pick. It’s not that difficult to understand.
