Steele is definitely gone with communication like that

He'd be a good get but would he want to move to the other side of the country?
You'd think the likes of Carlton and Collingwood are in his ear. I'd love to have him alongside Harley for a couple of years but concede it is remote.

So with our end of first round pick we got, that is likely going to Bris. Is the Draper comp and SOS compo before or after that pick? Assume after.

If West Coast aren't in the running to get this bloke then I'll never take what they say seriously in interviews ever again. All I heard from them all year is say 'We need a mature body or two to put with Harley in the middle' Well, there one is, Liam Ryan wants to go to the Saints, do a player swap, swap whatever picks around that you need and get something done.

If they don't get in the running for this after hearing their 'wants and needs' all year then they can go get stuffed.

It’s actually Allen for pick 2 and Starc, that’s what most people aren’t seeing.Thats massive overs for Allen.

We asked for Starc to be exempted from FA compensation, AFL house said no it’s outside the rules, you will have to trade for him but we can help you with that because we can give assistance to clubs when we choose to.

The AFL has allowed us to get maximum value for Allen whilst not having to use our own picks to trade for Starc by giving us the pick. It’s not that difficult to understand.

No it's not. If we have Pick 2 for Allen, then Starcevich just isn't part of that equation.

Steele's another one where if you push him out of the guts, where does he play? He's a tackling and contested ball machine, I don't think he's a type where you can slot him in at half back or half forward and he'll do a lot of positive things. He'll just be an overpaid guy playing mediocre football at a position that does not suit his talents.
Lucky we would need him in the guts.

Steele, Graham, the occasional Dev game to protect Harley, Hewett, and hopefully some draftees.

Looks a lot better very quickly in terms of distribution of workload away from Harley, physical protection of him, and a four on one tag of the kid actually hurting the opposition for a change because others can extract the ball and pick up the slack.

Given the Ryan deal is going to be an odd one with the Saints current picks being unfit for one reason or another, there has to be a way to bridge that gap. Really hope they get this one done if his head can be turned west.

some people don't get that.

until we fire a broadside across other list managers with our low ball offers and stick to it, we won't be taken seriously given the cluster*ck from last year. If that costs us Starcevich, so be it.

well if thats the case should make the trade Ryan/steele easier

we have enough cash spend it
I agree, but he apparently really likes the club and his misso is from Melbourne so it's probably not the easiest sell to get him to move to Perth in the twilight of his career. He's already got two years left on his contract so it's not as if coming to the Eagles is his lifeline to staying in the AFL.

He'd be a good fit if he's open to a trade but I could see how he wouldn't be keen to come play for a terrible team on the other side of the country after growing roots in Melbourne for the past decade.

I’d much rather a F2 for each of Ryan and Chesser. If Steele is open to a move then it’s a straight swap. Absolutely no reason to add picks especially when Saints have essentially told Steele we’d like to trade you.

We should be in contact with Steele to sound him out if we haven’t already

Need to accept though that he may not be interested and if that’s the case we may never know if the club contacted him or his management

Think St Kilda would be happy if he does agree to move west because it paves the way for a Ryan trade to get done

I think Steele can play forward. Is decent overhead and goal kicking… worse comes to worse he can be a rotation off the 5 man bench

Carlton Silvagni compo at Pick 19 proves that our free pick is a start of second round, not an end of first.

End of first round would still go by ladder order, so we’d slot in ahead of Essendon and Carlton. As it stands, their compo picks are going in ahead, so chalk up another loss for the people crying about free picks.

Daniel Giansiracusa off to the Hawks.

Didn't attend the B&F.
Something is really on the nose at Essendon.

No this was discussed several pages back - end of R1 priority picks rank behind end of R1 FA compensation picks

There’s no logical reason for it but that’s the way it is. The same happened with the North end of R1 priority picks

HB its the principle of the matter and mindset. if every time you go to shops and buy a $10 random thing for your kids, on surface its meaningless. But it creates mindset all around that money doesn't matter and then if you are willing to give $10, kids will try for a $15 thing. then $20 and so forth. you become soft and get prayed up as anyone with kids will know. list managers are like children.

except ours who just gives in.

Ok eff it just give the PP to Brisbane as long as those campaigners pay enough to trigger band 1 it’s a net win.

Yeah was thinking the same. Surely all compo picks are AFTER the eagles end of first pick.
