I dont want to lose Darcy at all.
Especially now interchange is 5
Most clubs will run 2 ruckman
And Jackson and Darcy are completely different.
If we had two Darcy’s I’d be keen to ship one off but that’s not the case.
Most of the last quarter come backs were driven by Jackson and Darcy having big last quarters when oppo fatigued.

Won’t lie. Haven’t been following the draft much this year.

Are they seriously in line to have 2 top 6 academy kids? 🤦‍♂️

Yeah nah this bullshit needs to end, ASAP.

Yeah they do. They actually have 6 kids this year, the first three are top 5/10, 20-30

Think the academies have done their job and are now hurting the comp.

Time to scale it all back and have everyone only have an NGA and that’s it.

Surely the journalist union lobbies for Jai to come here over the Swans? Way too many puns to pass up.

Every time I check Liam Ryan's stats I'm shocked that his best ever season is 30 goals.

A 30 goal season will get you delisted around these parts.

Cmon Snuff, both reigning best and fairest in the twos, surely the fact that there are plenty more hbf'ers than rucks kicking about evens it out?
Serong is closer to the Meek version of stuck in the 2s than Reidy

Saints have tabled pick 7 for Flanders!

Suns will have 6, 7, 13 and 16!

They are in an incredible position where they can keep pushing picks to future years in case someone pops up like Petracca. They can also move picks back to build points for academy players.

They have a never ending hand in the cookie jar. It has taken time but now that they’ve arrived the base for which they can build on is incredible.
Helps when the AFL prise one of the better/best coaches of the modern era to plonk into the set up for their 'Nepo Babies Academy' (NBA - cute!). With Dimmo there, they suddenly look a slightly better proposition/attraction from the outside looking in. The AFL gets what the AFL wants.

Doesn't appear to want Fremantle anywhere near the cookie jar.

Would be really nice of the Eagles to bid on Uwland and Patterson.

I’ve had enough of the cheap bull shit these clubs get.

If the eagles bid on Uwland at 1 GC are going to need a lot of points

You know they won't bid with 1 nor 2. Can't hurt the feelings of the kids they draft. Have to be able to say are the "best 2 kids in the draft". It's pathetic. These northern clubs should be made to pay as much as possible.

Pick 1 + 2 = 4933 points after the 10% discount. Compare that with the 3575 points used in the article. It's an enormous difference, equates to GC needing pick 9 on top of what they already have.

Jai seems to be viewed by Hawks supporters in a similar way to how Freo supporters saw Meek when he was traded. People happy for him to do well as they understand how he was leaving to get more opportunities. Meek's also a great fella.

Jai has played all over really.
Defence / Wing / Forward …. A little bit off ruck around the ground.

I really liked him on the wing as an outlet mark from defence.

Very good one on one, good skills. Not fast but not slow and very good skills.

He did some of boxhills kick outs and was working on James Sicily like kicks.

A very disciplined player, good clubman. I reckon he will choose Freo, his brother being there is a big bonus.

I think premierships are built on depth and would happily keep him, if he wanted to stay.

I disagree. The academies are showing the AFL the BEST way to develop young talent.

How come so many Queenslanders are now good enough to be top 20 draft picks? That didn't happen 10 years ago!

And how many WA kids are worthy of the top 20?

It is because the Queensland kids have a better talent development program ... AFL club academies.

I think we are failing our young WA footballers by not having club academies.

The 14 southern/western clubs should all be demanding their own academies operating the same as the northern academies.

I agree I like zones!

Zones need to encouraged all over Australia.

Maybe clubs requirements could be you have to have 20 players in your zone program each year age 15-18.

At the start of each year
you can nominate one player to have priority to in that draft.

Every club gets the same opportunity and the other 19 players gets development increasing the quality in the draft pool.

While im all for all of Simpkin, McVee and Serong, I reckon if Serong picks us that would rule us out of Simpkin. Possibly a bit too much overlap between the three.
List rules more of an impediment than anything else. There's the oft-cited "three draft" rule which, if it exists at all, certainly isn't exclusive to the senior draft (many teams have drafted 2). But the rule that's actually real is clubs must have at least three list senior list vacancies in order to take part in the national draft.

We have 33 + 3 once Brodie and Reidy are gone. The maximum on the senior list is 38, so adding 3 and cutting no others doesn't work if you wanna participate in the draft. Relatively easy to get around - delist and re-rookie contracted players or put Sturt on the LTI list. But that's probably the main road block.

Yeah, there's so many ways around the rules as far as im concerned all that matters is how many list spots we have in total across main and rookie.

Hawks supporters have said he does the sickouts for Box Hill Hawks. Geez if he could play wing that would be huge for us potentially. He's been described as a good long kick. Perhaps he could potentially at least play the Luke Ryan role.

Yeah, add a bit of brotherly love in there to make it easier for Caleb to extend and away we go

There are the players out of contract end of next season:

Sturt, O'Meara, Davies, Voss, McDonald, Nicholls, O'Driscoll, Murphy, Wagner, Carr, Switkowski, Banfield, Riddle, Dudley, Johnson.

I expect Voss, Nicholls, O'Driscoll, Wagner, Switkowski and Johnson to be extended.
You damn well know that 2026 Fremantle Maiden Premiership hero Bailey Banfield is going to get an extension. Likely +2 years (Fremantle have said many times they don't like to do singular year contracts).

Yeah I agree. Darcy is an untouchable as far as I'm concerned.
