And there in lies the subjective view.

I watched both CDT and Jackson in their draft years. I put Jackson higher. I think both are/were talents.

I was picking for Sydney in the BF mock draft and took Jackson with pick 2 or 3, I cannot remember exactly which. Therefore it’s clear I rate talls. I rate CDT but not quite at the same level as Jackson and am really worried he is a mummies boy and after 3 years when he is only starting to get games, he requests a return to Melbourne. Right when Tassie come on

This is the main concern for me. I can accept us taking a ruck even though we need mids, if he's the best available. But when you combine the fact he will take time and he's going to be a massive flight risk - its a hard pick to swallow. If he was from WA then sign me up to him 100%

Pick 1 mini-draft next year-Alex Walsh. We’ll get that pick for less than pick 2 as well and he projects to be a far better player. Hope we’re already getting friendly with Tassie.

✅200cm as a 15yo
✅WA boy
✅Aggressive
✅Can also play KP
✅Good kick

Having him 3 years behind Shanahan and 4 years behind Archer will be perfect.

I guess in relation to the mummy’s boy factor we don’t really know. Need to trust the club does its homework on the kid and makes the right decision.
I personally think if the above isn’t true that we take him unless an offer comes for one of those top two picks that’s hard to refuse.

He's got a good head on his shoulders. His old man is a good bloke but has a military background and has been setting high standards since he was born. I would love him in Blue and Yellow but think he'll be too good to pass up for Tassie.

If he nominates for the mini draft there is no way Tassie can get him. They have the only two picks but they HAVE to trade both.

Tell his old man to nominate him.

There may also be changes to the Cat B criteria that are less than clear. IF we believe Evans or Walley need another year in the academy and we revisit next year, then that changes things. Increasing the NGA age was certainly discussed but I am not aware of all the changes.

IF we can keep them at the club (unlike what happened with Lawson), then I can only see Tyler Wiliams as outside chance of playing AFL in 2026. Evans and Walley have to spend significant time getting their bodies right. Based on what I saw this season, they would struggle making it to WAFL League standard in 2026.
With the way rules are changing in regards to matching bids next year and having Kenh, Mcglade and Shanahan coming through we would be better off having Evans and Walley on the list as Cat B rookies (assuming they don't get bid on) and having them around our team for a season. If we expect them to improve we probably won't have enough points next year to get them all. At least this way we can see how they go and delist them to free the spots up if needed.

Sounds good. Is he an Eagles man?
Nah. Was Freo now South Australias Fremantle because of Xav. In recent months it sounds like Axel has been starting to like the idea of coming to us though. Xav was more keen to go interstate but sounds like he'd be up for moving to play with Axel if the opportunity came up.

Zero Hanger mock draft released today. Has us taking Duursma, CDT and Dovaston in the 1R assuming no trades.

Would be thrilled if Dovaston got to the Hawks 1R.

It's Mock Draft season!

I'll get more into Mock Drafts once the trading period/free agency's settled and we have more of a rock solid idea of the pick order. Us trading out of pick 3 last year has irreparably scarred me from zeroing on prospects that I want.

Possible to get both of them next year. Could do a lot worse than offer a then 21yo 195cm local KPD one of our extra rookie spots.

Was touch and go re. Staying on the list but port evidently liked him as kept him despite his injury.

Get all their ears Budgie, Axel needs to be an Eagle and we’re not exactly flush with KPDs. I’d very surprised if they weren’t already aware of the mini draft, one way of guaranteeing he doesn’t end up in Tassie whilst they build and develop a team. Military families seem to be pretty organised and plan ahead.

Lol I would vomit

We get smashed in the mids every single week and we’re going to draft a utility, a tweener ruck, a small forward and a key forward with our four first rounders?

We have four!? Look I’m on the record wanting Cumming and Sharp. The only two midfielders that look like bonafide 200 gamers in that position to me.

I reckon Bonnie Clarke and co. see both Duursma and CDT as future midfielders, one of whom can ruck. Yep. That’s where we’re at.

Dovaston at 17 or whatever it blows out to is a steal, particularly after his testing.

Yep. Me too.

Duursma seems a lock. Cummings sharp next. Doveston I doubt is still there if we held a fourth pick.
