Traded Brandon Starcevich - traded to West Coast as part of a 3-way trade with Brisbane and Fremantle

I reckon it will be Pick 16 for Starcevich and Dev combined. I think that's a terrible deal for WC but I think that will end up being the deal.
I think Clarke would be tarred, feathered and ran out of town if he backed up last year's efforts with giving up 16 here.

The assistance pick is fair considering Brandon's concussion issue. if it weren't for that pick 16 would be fair. The assistance pick is what it will be IMO.
Agree on the first half. I’d say our natural 2nd rounder is more fair than 16 if the assistance didn’t exist but that’s just bias of each clubs supporters I’m sure

Pick 16 will be the deal for Dev and Starcevich combined. Perhaps with a third rounder or future third rounder going to WC too. WC list managers will make out like they've had a recruitment coup getting two players. Bookmark my post and get back to me when the trade is done.
Dev has 0 effective value here, for simplicity he may be thrown in but he’s essentially a DFA. Maybe a f3rd? Not enough to turn the EO1 pick into the 16 Brisbane want that’s for sure

I think this is the clubhouse leader post in this thread. Will be difficult to beat.

It actually got an audible laugh from me so well done. He likely spent all week down in the mines thinking about it.

Personally, happy cut em some slack.

Pretty likely to be mentally exhausted from being 22 years old, earning $160,000 plus a year for 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off, struggling to recover from their 25th weekend trip to Bail, all whilst dealing with the trauma caused by Toyota telling em that they can't take their order on a 70 series as they can't keep up with the demand from WA based CUBBIES and primary producers.

Watching Morris and Gallop in the finals, and the fact that Draper can play forward too, I wonder if the lions have gone a bit cold on Allen, and have put us into a position where we either pay overs for Starcevich, or the Allen free agency collapses entirely.

If not the case, surely the assistance pick and an agreement that we dont bid on Annabel with picks 1 and 2 gets it done.

Felt bad for you guys last year, a rebuilding team trading away a top 3 pick was nuts.
There’s mixed thoughts on this on our side. We brought in our bnf winner and likely captain with this trade as well as our main target in the draft. Obviously who knows what the alternative could have been, but I’m on the glass half full side.

I don’t know what any of these words mean. Must be a WA thing.

It’s why the Eagles treatment of OA this year was bizarre. Basically made the entire situation untenable.

It’s pretty obvious the Eagles are desperate for pick 2. Especially with the upcoming compromised drafts. Decent leverage.

What treatment? Not giving a player the offer they want?

I don't buy this.

I agree they don't need Allen (Draper a lesser player but better pick up with O-Mac retiring) but they've been into him all year. I'd be surprised if the difference between a pick in the teens/20s or nothing for losing a FA that they would otherwise get nothing for is enough for the club to go back on a decision made months ago. Brisbane can't screw WC over with FA compo without screwing over Allen who is their incoming player. I mean would Brisbane really prefer WC keeping Allen and getting Starcevich as a band 2 FA?

Being charitable here, I'm open to hearing any counter arguments.

Bear in mind I was replying to a poster who suggested Brisbane could "play games" by sending Allen to the PSD.

Absolutely no issue with it. OA did it in public and got caught. As the club captain the optics of it were awful.

Had Zac Merrett been done talking to Hawthorn in round 5 for example, I imagine there’d be a riot.

Gut feel is Allens deal collapses right now. I suspect the offer isnt Band 1 and thats the hold up more then Starcevich
I've wondered about this point. I suspect Starce and Allen will be getting paid pretty similar money... circa $900k per year.

Surely 900k per year doesnt meet the band one compo with an $18m salary cap...

Tbh i think the simplest thing would be a straight swap of players. But this is where WCE might be wanting Brisbane to up their deal to Allen to get pick 2, which in turn suggests Brisbane might be saying then up your trade offer for Starce (to pick 16).

West Coast would then just take Starcevich via FA and trade for OA. Can’t see a straight swap happening.
