Have we found a club for Bailey Scott yet?

Can we do Scott to Gc for Davies

Or just to anyone for a pick upgrade

we have no takers for Jy so highly unlikely anyone would be interested in Scott, but he is pretty low down in list of priorities one would have thought
Scott doesn’t have a big contract or length for a team to take on cheaply

So hopefully that should help get him a trade for little

Jack Steele to play a defensive mid makes a lot of sense for us.

Come R1 if nothing changes we still have nobody to play that role.

Saints arguably have a worse midfield than us. If he’s being pushed out why would we be looking at him particularly with his fading athleticism

That's the query. He's a name, and we get excited by that, but can he cover the ground adequately? That's as important as anything to us.

Not to mention another rough kicker - we don't need more of those.
If he's exclusively handballing then it comes down to can he contribute with his tackling and pressure or has the game indeed passed him by?

They do, but they have Windhager and Steele who play a defensive role for them. We have a group of mids that don't defend at all.

we do need one though, and Club obviously acknowledge too given went after Windy... Steele is at least on the mkt, who else is there that we can realistically target, that is both defensive and athletic.... dont say the B word as thats unfortunately not realistic...

I thought the whole idea of a list re-build was that you draft a heap of young kids, endure some tough years while you give them time to develop together, and then reap the benefits when they're all in their prime. We de-listed the likes of Atley and McMillan and Dumont because we were sick of finishing mid-range and not competing in finals, fast forward six years and we're losing our collective sh!t and sacking the list manager because we miss out on Jai Serong and Jordan Butts.
No. Its because we are throwing top 3 picks away for Daniel and now we are coming to realize we have a crap draft hand.

Our best bet is that Will Dawson turns himself into a decent key defender by the end of 2026.

Games when our pressure has been good (few and far between), our defense has looked decent. Pressure up the ground, and not turning the ball over like we are under 8’s will also help.

Bringing in Butts is essentially shuffling deck chairs on the titanic until we start bringing pressure. Butts has as many weaknesses as our bunch.

A more mature defender could instil structure would also be important. Corr and Logue should be those types, but are f***ing useless. Although I doubt it will happen, a May coming in and ripping Logue and those types out on the ground might actually be beneficial. Most likely given our recent history, he comes in and the place implodes.

Six clubs traded out of this year's first round.
The more you look at this draft, the less agitated I am by the trading out of that first pick last year.

The real question is if Matt Whitlock was on the open market today, would Pick 3 in return for Whitlock and a second rounder be market value?

On face value its overs. But if the draft evens out that later pick might get you a a good player.

Also if we had 3, we know we would most likely just pick another midfielder, so I have sort of come to terms with it.

Over to Mr Whitlock to become that key position player we all hope he can be.
