Sydney saying Hayward and Rowbottom won't be part of a Curnow trade. On top of Warner, Heeney, Gulden, Blakey being untouchable. Who else would be of interest to the Blues in exchange for Curnow?
This would be some feat if the Swans somehow manage to get this done.

I reckon Sydney will try and get up the order...Get Carlton a pick inside the top 5-6 before a bid comes in for Harry Dean.

They'll use that pick, plus 2026 or 2027 F1, then throw in Ollie Florent as steak knives.

Its not on whitlock. Its the Daniel deal that cost us the future. We coulda got one of the whitlocks, shanahan or armstrong with our 2nd rouder or a modest upgrade. Our insistance on Daniel lead to selling the farm.
It's amazing that this needs to be explained to people every second day.

It's not a Whitlock issue - it's a 'Clarko wanting Daniel' issue. That has cost us a top 5 pick in this years draft.

Clarko thought his mere presence would catapult up the ladder irrespective of his lack of a game plan - oh and how wrong he was.

We might need to sticky this given the goldfish level of memory on here.

Again to clarify, its was predicted that none of Taru, Trainor or Whitlock would be available at that pick when we traded for Caleb.

At that time we were looking to split the FOS pick to attain one of them.

I very much doubt that my "oversight" would have been in any recruiter's mind either, this time last year and represents the problem you apparently see.

Which is not a problem when it comes to key position defenders, where it appears Whitlock has been recruited to play. Only Comben and Logue are primarily viewed as key position defenders out of that list. Darling is a forward and will almost certainly retire at the end of next year.
It should not be in any recruiters mind, this is Brady's job and he should absolutely have the cap/list outlook at front of mind. I don't expect many, if any on BF to have it either

Again I do love the Whitlock add and look forward to him being in a key piece going forward, but the reality is with the amount of high end draft picks we have on the list, expiring at similar times and wanting raises in pay. This is the problem with trading futures to 'buy back into drafts'

It must be nice to sit in judgement with 20/20 hindsight on the order of 27 draft picks.

We need a KPB our targets were Taru, Trainor and Whitlock. 98% of predictions had all these players gone before our 2nd round pick. Thus we looked into splitting our 1st pick, no one had interest.

When we traded for Caleb the predictions showed all our KPB prospects were gone at that pick. We needed run and a way out of our back 50, Caleb had the potential to provide this, so we went for the best choice given the best information available.

On the night after 26 picks when we had full knowledge of who was available we still viewed it as worthwhile.

Everyone was screaming for a KPB and we got a 197cm player we viewed as the 3rd best in the draft.

Yet still you cry.
And we got this badly wrong. Name one person in the industry who didn't say ...'wtf are they doing playing 25 for a reserves player'. This was even more so when we had McKercher developing nicely to play such a role.

Don't apologise for these stuff ups on behalf of the club - these poor decisions are exactly the reason we have no credibility in this competition.

And if that makes you cry then go right ahead.

Confirmation, if needed, that clubs use us to boost player value.
Kinnear Beatson on Jordan Dawson:
'He requested a trade back to S.A. Once Port dropped out we lost our leverage so we tried to get North involved.'

TBF it sounded like we didn't which was good.

Predicted by who?

It’s part of their job to know how the order falls.

Miscalculating 15% of your targets in that range isn’t an excuse to make completely idiotic moves.

It was called out as atrocious with no margin for error at the time, it somehow ended up being an even worse deal.

People can cope all they like, it’s one of the single worst deals by any of club of the last decade. End of.

We traded pick 3 for a guy we could have taken with our natural second rounder, 10 spots before he was taken, but had to trade up because we had an infatuation with an almost 30, VFL player, who his club wanted rid of, on $700k+ per season.

Who then barely hit a target for the first half of the season.

It’s an all timer…

Hope our mids take off next season because we're still a mile behind other clubs in terms of our front 6 and back 6.

St Kilda still missing the 8 is something I'd love to see.

Dude - stop speaking - it's just getting worse for you. Splitting the FOS pick? JFC!

oh Clarko's fault! thought anything trade related was Rawlings fault?

And the midfield.

The reality is we have lost most of our top end depth advantages and are back in the pack tbh.

Thomas gone, Phillips gone, Duursma TBC and Powell floundering.

We needed another top pick to stem the bleeding, like FOS provided…

We are now a mile behind some clubs we were considered neck and neck with 2 years ago.

This might have been done already, so sorry in advance. I expect this is the thread to list all the delisted players from this year. Should be a spud or five we could have a look at here, surely.

Cincotta, Fantasia, Lemmey, C Dean, A Johnson, Macrae, Markov, Davey Jnr, Goldie, Menzie, Shiell, Smarrt, Delean, O Jones, T Berry, L Johnston, Sexton, Fahey, Frost, Scaiffe, Billings, K Brown, Fullarton, Hore, Seston, Verrell, Burton, H Jackson, D Williams, Bauer, Blight, Colina, Koschitzke, Boyd, Cordy, McLennan, Fox, Francis, Leidler, C Mitchell, Jamieson, Petrucelle, Rawlinson, L Jones, A Scott.

It is a disgrace that Goldie is listed with this dubious bunch.

My personal favourite is Koschitzke, closely followed by Francis.

Koschitzke is surely of the prime baked variety.

I'm pretty happy with the forward 6. Could add in a nippy crummer, but otherwise we have decent balance and depth there.

The NM happy clappers aren't using any of their brain.

6 years of overwhelming evidence completely ignored.
The continued doubling down of poor decisions is unparalleled by this club.

Is it though? How many pick 3s do we already have on the list? How many do people think we need? How many do the top teams have?

It is amazing how often a premiership team is made of players you thought were average a few years beforehand.

If we can cut out turning the ball over so easily, it will allow our defence some time to setup and then use our midfield strength as a real advantage. Easier said than done but that is where my hope is.

A defensive mid would help with that ;)

****ing really listen though.

He’s talking about psd and the crows using it historically.

The reference he’s making is that we had the first pick in the psd and they couldn’t get us interested in taking him there so the crows held all the leverage.

He’s not out there saying. Lolz boys the cash cowboys couldn’t even leverage this.

**** me

Dude - stop speaking - it's just getting worse for you. Splitting the FOS pick? JFC!

Seems you might be the one with dementia, who could do with some sticky notes.
Talk of splitting the pick 2 so we could get a tall (Tauru specifically) was all the rage for weeks on here and in the media. Almost as many posts about it as there were posts about Brady's nose.
Thankfully, the club stuck with FOS.

The trade of a future 1st for Whitlock and a future second was a big risk. But it may well pay off - as many others have posted. Just depends on how good Whitlock becomes, and what we do with Richmond's 2025 second pick ... and to an extent, how good our 2025 1st rounder turns out to be.

My fear was that this 2025 draft would have amazing quality from 1-5 and we would watch as an obvious super talent got taken with our pick. But the fact that Richmond is trying to trade out said pick does suggest that it may be a worse than average early 1st rounder. Time will tell.

NB. If you want to see it as 2025 1st rounder v Caleb Daniel and 2025 2nd rounder that's fine. Pretty sure no-one thought Whitlock would be available at that pick though, so not a hanging offence in my mind .
