errrrr.... Port cough up 29 and a 60ish pick for a dud player and a future 2nd? **** that.

Would of much rather have jesse motlop over durdin ffs.... Or heck, Carlton can send both durdin and motlop plus f2 for those 2 picks. Stupid trade.

Motlop signed on for 2 more years a few weeks back

Can't really knock the trade. It's a huge win. Durdin's basically cost nothing in that trade. Pick 67 is a nothing pick, we'll still probably end up picking around the same point at the end of the draft (though it appears we plan on using upgrades not picks). After everyone else passes. Current 2nd to Future 2nd, is probably a net win really, gets a pick into a better draft, possibly a higher pick, and points we need when we really dont want this years picks anyway. Pick 29 could well end up deep in the 30's by draft night too. So overall it's just a smart trade.

However, I think it is fair to question bringing him in as an individual, if you've seen him. We do need small forwards, but we need quality not quantity. I personally have no real exposure to him, stats wise he looks on par with McEntee. If he's quick, a good ball user and can finish in front of goal then it'd be a good get.

Good luck to him, hope he stays fit and really brings something to our squad.

As others have said we pick upgraded our second rounder into a better draft. A 60ish pick has basically no value. What are you complaining about?

Corey Durdin's draft year profile, again highlighting terrific u16 form which gets Parker's attention. His draft profile is very similar to Jake Rogers'.

DRAFT ANALYSIS: “One of the premier pure smalls in this year's cohort, Durdin is clean at ground level and tough over the ball.” – Michael Alvaro

Central District prospect, Corey Durdin put his name in lights as one for the future after taking out the 2018 Kevin Sheehan Medal during South Australia's title-winning Under 16 National Championships. The 173cm pocket-rocket plied his trade as a zippy ball-winning midfielder at that stage, but has transitioned into a more forward-oriented role of late. Durdin has remained a mainstay among his state's elite pathways, turning out thrice during last year's Under 18 carnival, and strutting his stuff during the Under 17 All-Star showcase on AFL Grand Final day. His clean skills and defensive pressure have seen him thrive in Centrals' senior side since earning a debut in 2019, going on to play nine more times as a top-ager before his season was cut short by consecutive hamstring injuries. The same knock kept him from testing at this year's South Australian combine.

I havent seen a lot of this guy. Reading the Carlton thread on Durdin, a lot seem to like him. Seems to have had a purple patch in the first couple months of 2025. Is another mid turned into a forward because he's a bit of a midget. Hasn't put it together consistently, perhaps partly due to injury.

I don't expect much, but the vibes seem better than Mcentee and Evans and there's basically zero competition at his position right now.

Sounds like a Brett Ebert type? Midget that’s good overhead

We won the trade
As your username suggests, I probably acted a little rash in my initial thoughts. Mainly because I just don't have a particularly high opinion of Durdin. But he will be on low wages, gave up minimal trade currency and potentially have a decent pick to still use next year as others have mentioned. A move back home & fresh start, he might surprise me.

We get to deathride Carlton, we trade pick 29 for a 2nd rounder in a better draft where we need capital, and give up a valueless pick. Good business.

Edit: and there are spots up for grabs in our small forward line. Competition is good.
Seems the Crows were also hoping to send our second rounder to the Brions for Ah Chee too. Tempted to get my pants down for a lap.
