I rate Rowbottom extremely highly - he's the one that allows Heeney/Warner/Gulden to be as impactful as they are - he isnt quite on the Dunkley/Atkins level of a defensive minded mid but would be a damn good complement for what we already have. Given we were in big for Windhager who wouldve played a smiliar role to what Rowbottom does, I'd hope we'd be big in for him too - whether he'd want to come to us is another story entirely... if only we had a couple of his ex-teammates that could spruik the idea of coming here to him....

Things seemed to have cooled on duursma. If simpkins leaving id prefer to keep him and play him on the wing. Abit like mason wood, Ollie dempsey

That would require a full 180 for his tank. Of course, keep him. But the idea that he's anywhere near ready to be a set in stone winger is absurd. This isn't fantasy football

Not a winger, but he has engaged a pt to boost his strength and fitness.

Yea. Very similar overall narrative of north overhyping Simpkin and the pies are really the ones going to pay the most “proportionate” trade price.

I was gonna say…everyone I speak to here and rl have reservations about the foot disposal and brain farts. Idk how other Clubs miss that.

Do they think it the pros and cons even out?

Thanks, Mitch, getting Collingwood’s message loud and clear there.
Couldn't be a clearer message if he just wrote "Collingwood's football boss texted me and asked me to put a tweet out". I wonder if they know they are being used

This shit is out of control. Are there kickbacks involved in this media advocacy on behalf of a club or is it just purely tribal/getting on the big club's good side?
The pessimist in me thinks more favourable media coverage means greater access to players for interviews and more open access for media

They love it.

The feeling of influence and importance.

It would be a very very big dick move for Rawlings to respond to Collingwood's "well Rowbottom would cost less" gambit to just go and recruit Rowbottom for the lower price and still demand two first rounders for Simpkin

I don't agree or like that Archer is talking on behalf of North, it makes us look pathetic. Nobody wanted to go to Carlton when they were a perennial spooner, it isn't just big club vs small club. Players aren't stupid, they do not want to go somewhere that is going nowhere. If Collingwood spend the better half of ten years in the bottom half of the ladder, much of it in the bottom four, they will struggle to get good quality players go there.

Our list management, recruiting, development and coaching has been shit for a long time, who would want to come into that? The appeal Clarko initially had has waned given the way we have been playing the last three years. A good successful club has a strong board and president, they have a good CEO that has football smarts or surround themselves with people that have football smarts. They get a coach that understand where the modern game is heading, have strong recruiters and list managers, good development coaches that ensure their players can play and sustain a good pressure game.

How many of these boxes do we tick? We aren't a bottom four club because we are a smaller club, we are a bottom four club because we haven't been making good decisions in terms of the people we hire and the standards we set. Things are better than they used to be, but not where they need to be in order to be a contender. We either set higher standards or it is going to be more of the same regardless what the AFL does with the draft, free agency, etc. We just do not have the leadership that does what it needs to do to be successful like we had in the 70s or 90s. Development used to be our strength, Archer was there from the U19s where we dominated. Look at the runts we are producing now. Would they get a game under Pagan or Barassi? Geelong develops well, Collingwood develops well. Collingwood has brought in a lot of potatoes and they are still a contender. Need to stop whining about things beyond our control and execute well things that are in our control.

The Swans can't afford to trade Rowbottom for shit picks. They need value for Curnow. That's the whole point.
And we are after a defensive mid and we have future currency to burn.
