Quick Links

List Changes - 2025
In:
  • Brandon Starcevich arrives at West Coast in a three team deal
  • Tylar Young (Richmond) arrived at West Coast in exchange for Pick 38.
  • Deven Robertson (Brisbane) has agreed to join West Coast and will be signed on to the rookie list after being delisted by Brisbane
Out:
  • Oscar Allen joins Brisbane as a FA - West Coast receive Pick 2 as compensation
  • Liam Ryan and a 2027 R3 pick has been traded to St Kilda for a 2026 R2 pick
  • Campbell Chesser has been traded to Carlton for Pick 41
  • Jayden Hunt announces retirement
  • Jack Petruccelle, Callum Jamieson and Loch Rawlinson not offered new contracts
  • Coen Livingstone joins the list of players not offered a new contract

Players Out of Contract - 2025 (0)
  • Jamie Cripps and Malakai Champion seem to have been offered new contracts despite there being no official announcement. Means that all players out of contract for 2025 have been given new contracts despite or removed from the playing list

2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

if we really do want sharp / cummings. 5 and 6 probably makes more sense over 2.
obviously assuming who is gonna take who is a big risk tho.
I want Duursma/Sharp, too. Cumming on top, would be great. On draft day, if we could split and still get Sharp, I'd do it. But trading that pick now, before we know who's taking who, is crazy.

I'm not into CDT, but if he club has earmarked him as our man - same deal. They need to hang onto that pick until draft day, and if they can't split and still get him, just take him at 2.

My gut tells me that Eagles won't go a two-utility combo in the draft, so will look at Duursma/Sharp or Duursma/Robey, and only split if they can still get their man.

Richmond only had picks 2 and 3 and wanted something in the thirties for their father and son Kellaway.
Picks in the fifties doesn't help them.Talks about sending Young to the psd was plain stupid with the chance we might end up with unused picks at the end of the night.
Most of the sensible people thought 41 was fair to get the deal done.
It is not like we are giving up pick 13
Again, I know what Richmond wanted, why should we care what they wanted though? It’s the most stupid possible argument you could make.

We had all the leverage, not them.

Seem to always be 5 pages behind on this thread but one thing I can contribute is there seems to be a lot of champing at the bit to call someone champ.
Are we subliminally hoping if we use this word enough it may rub off on the team?
FWIW though all things considered we haven't done too badly. At least we have been more active than usual. Can see this continuing to draft week and being quite active again.

Hey guys! Just heard we traded a nothing pick in a shallow draft for a decent 27 yo kpd! What does everyone think? Oh…

shocked donald glover GIF

If we dont get bids on our NGAs or fs will we have list spots to use those late picks or can we trade them into next season?
After the addition of Young and assuming Cripps is not re-contracted to the main list, we have between 4 and 6 main list spots, with no official announcement on the status of Maric and Hutchinson.
Pick 10 for 13 + 34 +53 + 58 probably works. Dean is tipped to be the 4th club tied prospect to be bid on so 34 53 and 58 will go out by 3 but come in quickly once the Suns match Uwland and Patterson and once Lions match Annables.

Lions are holding 1,906 points which is about what they need but list spots will see likely trades. They hold 17 and 23 that will likely be sold off early. They also hold picks 44 45 51 and 56 which most are inside 53 and 58 and will disappear fast.

I suspect the Blues really want 10 sold for a F1
Will be interesting to see what risk the Blues are prepared to accept in their F1. Obviously a non finalist would be ideal for them but will attract a premium. Could GCS be prepared to bring their F1 into this draft to cover bids? Basics of a 3 way trade:

WCE
OUT: 13, 34
IN:10

CARL
OUT: 10
CARL IN: F1 (GCS)

GCS OUT: F1
GCS IN: 13, 34

Pick 2 - most would expect we can get 2 x first round picks for this. Like 5 and 6 with 13 thrown in.
Or 7 and 8 from Dees with later pick going to Dees.

But I think it will probably be a pick slide like 2 for 5 and a F2. Not what I would do, but what I think will happen.

Pick 2 for 5 and a future 2nd IMO is terrible and nowhere near worth losing pick 2 for.

We got 9 and 14 for pick 2 in 2022.

I'd look at Tigers wanting 2 and getting 4 and a F2. more certainty about Tigers being bad in 2026. I expect the Bombers without Merrett are bottom 6

me puede dar dos coronas, por favor

These were the only words I learnt ravelling through South America

Umm, surely you learnt the most important one of all?

"dónde está el baño, por favor"

Considering how often you get the runs over there, this one is an absolute must.

With our ins and outs, I thought it worth updating.

Assumptions:
We only take 3 picks in the open pool with Duursma, Sharp and Cumming.
We then match bids on T Williams and Banfield
Walley and Evans to Rookie list
Dev and Blamires (or pick your desired target) as SSP or Rookies

Total = 48 which is the standard 38 senior, 4 rookies + 2 Cat B and a special assistance 4 rookies

FWIW 2 for 5 and 6 is not outside of the realms although we'd probably have to throw something else in.
The Vic clubs know Duursma is locked in at one and would take a kings ransom, we've been obvious to the clubs we like CDT but as I have said for ages it's a smokescreen, Vic clubs want him.

Good to hear we're being sneaky

That's a good year's work, if it happens. Not ludicrously optimistic, but solid. I'm not fully convinced we can land Duursma, Sharp and Cumming (or even that the club wants to) but I'd be happy if it transpired.

Tell you what, if I was a GC fan and my team paid pick 7&8 for Petracca I wouldn't be overly happy
41 was a bargain. The dockers got 103 for Brodie.
Dockers didn't want Brodie. They were desperate to get his salary of the books and the list spot. We clearly wanted Chess and had invested a lot in getting his body right. And when he was fit he mostly played.
