I know it’s the field she’s studying, I just don’t know how I feel about players picking potential players. She’s more likely to bring in biases regarding the playing group, which I think shouldn’t impact recruiting.

FWIW, I don’t mind the players getting development at coaching across the different programs.
Your whole argument is based on your own bias. The argument that she would bring in a more biased opinion is just your own feeling.

I don't think looking at his best ruck moments in a highlights package is a great assessment of him as a ruck. He was absolutely garbage against anyone other than 18 year olds in the last 12 months. Marking is fine without being spectacular. Has struggled in front of goals but is a pretty good field kick. Our rucks stink and even so I think purely from a ruckwork point of view he'd be behind Flynn and Reid.

In the forward line (set shots and forward craft) he'd be behind Flynn and Jack Williams.

Marking around the ground he's behind Flynn Reid and Jack Williams.

His point of difference is that he's a very tall midfielder with good endurance. His ceiling is Blicavs in my view. Likely outcome is probably closer to Bailey Williams with better mobility and stamina and a worse jump at the ball.
Blicavs is the prototype but I think his ceiling is higher. Already has better skills than Blicavs so if he can add the rest then he’ll be a very handy player in the modern game. A better Blicavs is arguably the perfect player for our system.

I have to admit I can’t believe Barnett is still on our list, has done absolutely nothing for 3 years, Archer Reid out shone him completely after being drafted a year later and coming off a knee injury.
Barnett needs to repay the faith put in him by WC, but I have seen nothing to suggest he’ll become an AFL player or a WAFL player, a total disappointment.
Please prove me wrong young man, we need you!
You never know he may mature a bit and take it more seriously this year. People don't fully mature until 24.

My statement was in regards to the quote above.

Just not sure a player should be recruiting players because they think someone will suit the vibe that they’re apart of. Thats the bias right there. If we have men doing the same for the womens recruitment I feel the same.

Coaching sure thing but this is different
Doesn't that also apply to Mini with the men's team, Daisy with the women's team and Woosha for the entire club?

Just draft 2 mids 1 and 2. In 2 years no excuse not to have an elite midfield regardless of ruck

I don't mind the club taking Duursma at one. I'm more receptive to them splitting 2 and getting a couple mids only because we have enough depth at the ruck/forward role. Drafting and stashing a pick 2 in the WAFL a year after winning one game would hurt my soul, honestly.

Why?

What if we did something crazy like Duff-Tytler, Sharp, Cumming and Barker? All looking like decent prospects but will take a little longer to come on (except Sharp, who is ready to go round 1). We wind up closer to the bottom again next year and bring in a Cochrane or a high-end mid.

I get that we want to win but we also need to be smart about it as well. Ride the wave. I'm not saying these are the guys we should select but, if we did, they would definitely make our side better long term and we would have another top 5 pick and 1-2 top 10 picks to round out our side.

I don't follow the draft that closely, so can someone please explain...

... why are most draft pundits rating CDT in the Top 5 (even higher when you take out academy kids), but we've got Bigfooty posters basically calling him the second coming of Bailey Williams?
You answered your own question.

This is a good point. I would be pretty happy with that if it was costing us a mid teens pick or later. Is 'more skill full Blicavs' winning us many games this year? For the next 10 years? Would the Blicavs experiment work in a midfield that isn't Geelongs who have had some historical midfield groups around him since he's been in the league.

Less than 10 hitouts/game and around 15 possessions with half a goal per game. I appreciate statistics can be deceptive but do you think Blicavs is anything notable in a team like ours as opposed to a consistently amazing midfield group? Would Flynn look good if he had such a good midfield group around him?

Haven’t watched a lot of Collingwood this year. But with Cox being delisted, what’s the thoughts on grabbing him as a stop gap before this Ruckman in the draft?

Good idea, bad idea or indifferent?

Because once people get an idea about a certain player in their head, they're reluctant to let it go.

See the Morton comparisons with Duursma, despite him being nothing like them whatsoever.

English is 208cm. If he was only 200cm he probably wouldn't have a career.
I just had a look at one of English's draft videos and apparently he was 204cm when he was drafted
