Cash can't be a barrier surely?
Not an issue, but more of making sure we’ve got some coverage I would have thought.

All well and good to pay someone like corr out, then key defenders get injured and we are ****ed because we picked up a young rookie.

I’m not sure that’s right.

With the two extra rookie spots gone, I think we have to delist three to have three spots free.

Although we could just delist two, and promote a rookie, meaning we only take two in the draft.

We have moved on 5 players and returned 1. That is 4 players off the list, minus the two rookie spots means we have 2 open spots.

Funny you mention this, I've heard from multiple sources that Dempsey was a bit of a Dyl Stephens, in that he was afraid of his own shadow.
I am old enough to have watched Gary Dempsey play. He was a very good ruckman and took a lot of marks behind the play which repelled attacks by the opposition. I never saw him take a short step on the field, or not go when it was his turn. I don't know who your sources are but in my opinion they are completely wrong.

Have to agree. Saw a fair bit of him back then and have no recall of him being a squib.

Mighta been when he was at footscray

Whilst I know you know more than me, I'm merely relaying what I've heard.

He literally had to be coaxed to go back out to play in the 2nd half of the 1983 Qual Final.

Nobody called him a squib, just weak as piss.

Our list management is so conservative. Fisher and Corr should be cut to let us look at guys that could actually give us something going forward. Seven and ten games this year. Not young, not reliable, not good; should be out the door but instead we'll either delist kids or not add more kids, even though our young cohort still doesn't cover every list need.
Don’t think that was the view the years we cut rigorously - ditched everyone not young or potentially very good and left the kids exposed and everything got worse. Maybe overcorrecting now but swinging the pendulum back to radically cutting isn’t the answer.

I'm suggesting the same number of cuts but cutting older, recently injured players while guys who might give something like Payne or Phillips potentially get the flick. Not even considering we're retaining guys who can't play a zone or rock up fat from off-seasons.

I'm old enough to have watched Dempsey play for Footscray against North at Arden St. He played that kick behind the play game and dominated marks in the back half. At Arden St you could hear the players from the boundary. None of his Bulldog team mates were very complimentary about his style of play insinuating that he was getting cheap possessions. Make of that what you will! He played a slightly different style of game at North.

We had 46 players at the end of the year. The standard list size is 44 players.

46-5=41
41+1=42

2 spots free.
Its 44 if you include cat b's.

We don't have any cat b's, so its 42.

We had two players with LTIs counting towards that 46 figure, so they were exempt from the list number, but now they will count again.

I had some inner scrotum time then but doesn't mean I saw everything. Never saw anything like that but doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I thought it was 38 + 6 but looks like I was mistaken.

In that case all 4 should go.
