I'd prioritize him above all others in our range then.
How about a new rule for our recruiting team: No more spuds who cannot kick the ball better than your average suburban U13s.
Look at the disposal of Brisbane in the last 2 GFs - and the past few years - they have this one-wood they can just go to whenever they like and that's to not lose the ball in dangerous positions and use it well going inside 50.
Their kicking for goal aint great on occasions but the field kicking gives them so many good looks at goal they often get away with it.
I'd be pretty happy with Dean + Dovaston + Ison...
Who do you guys like with the pick 11 range so much that you're wanting to move up two spots? Farrow?
Yeah it’s possible but you’d be going back to Boyd to find the last number 1 pick that was a dud and that had more to do with him walking away from the game. Perhaps Patton and McCartin as well but injuries played a big part there as well.Yeah that's the question. It gets down to what Ess want to do more than Carlton at this stage.
Clubs are pretty good at finding ways to get the points they need for later selections so anything is possible.
For what it's worth - I think Duursma is going to be a bust. Maybe I'm put off by his brothers which obviously isn't fair but for whatever reason the bros just can't translate junior talent into AFL level and he looks too similar.
If the bombres are keen I'd be lining up a very expensive trade for them to take pick #1. Get them to give up their 2026 first rounder plus the 2 this year.

He could be anything, a Brendan Goddard type utility, a Bont type mid or a Cale Morton type disaster.
What I will say is he has a lot of very good skills that should translate to the big time and he’s versatile enough that if one position doesn’t work out there’s probably a spot somewhere on the ground for him.
What has impressed me most is he seems incredibly mature for his age. He was on SEN in Melbourne this morning and he was discussing how important it is to be professional and make sure you are doing all the small things such as rehab after a game, watching your diet and applying yourself for pre season training. He even said he’s already started on certain drills to prepare himself for the summer.
He’s saying all the right things at the moment and his form throughout the year has made him a deserving number #1 pick so I guess the Eagles just have to back ourselves and Willem and hope he turns out to be more like Bo Sanders than Bo Callaghan.
If anyone gets Sharp outside of the top 5, it is daylight robbery.Hard to say but I genuinely think it will depend on what we do with pick 1 and 2.
If we take Duursma and CDT then we probably have a need for a midfielder with our next pick so whoever is left of Sharp, Cumming, Grlj & Farrow. Greeves could be an option as well.
You’re excellent value. The post above this one is smart and makes me think we will just hold onto our pick and hope your mob don’t bid on Dean at second. Thanks for the kind words. I’ve felt pretty welcome so far. If this was some other clubs boards I’d been tarred and feathered by now with some idiot standing behind me with a bell screaming Shame, shame, shame.
We’re all just trying to get the best for our club and keep the filth like Pies, Bombers, Hawks, Cats and Dockers down.
It’s a team effort really.![]()
If he gets to 9 and we haven't had a bid on Dean yet id take him.https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/dr...n/news-story/88b62c762ef5d80f12e465a81f9ef474
Oakleigh Chargers star Sam Grlj has Blues blood running through his veins.
“Dad supported Carlton and his dad supported them, so it just got passed down,” Grlj tells foxfooty.com.au.
“I remember coming here (the MCG) and watching Sam Docherty’s kick through the middle and his kick to Blake Acres for that (final in 2023). That was pretty special.”
Carlton holds Picks 9 and 11, but those selections will change depending on when a Harry Dean father-son bid comes. Plus Grlj has lots of top-10 interest, starting at Richmond (Picks 3 and 4).
Like most footy-mad families, the parents of this year’s top draft prospects have had a significant influence on which AFL team they support.
Deans grown another cm according to the rankings, with any luck he could get to 195 or 196
I reckon the AFL have already scratched your back enough with the free pick for Starcevich and the gifting you pick 2.
lf Lindsay drops that far l would be taking him well before Dovaston.Mini mock draft based on pure guess:

Pick 5 Xavier Taylor - Rich
Pick 6 Dylan Patterson (GC bid match w/ pick 25, 26, 33 get pick 53 back)
Pick 7 Sullivan Robey - Rich
Pick 8 Dyson Sharp - Ess
Pick 9 Aidan Schubert - Ess
Pick 10 Harry Dean (Carl bid match w/ pick 12 & 14 get pick 15 back
Pick 11 Sam Grlj - Melbourne
Pick 12 Sam Cumming - Melbourne
Pick 13 Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves - Hawthorn
Pick 14 Mitchell Marsh - GWS
Pick 15 Lachlan Dovaston - Carl
Pick 16 Jacob Farrow - WCE

Pick 24 Oliver Greaves - Hawthorn
Anyone have details on why Lindsay has dropped?lf Lindsay drops that far l would be taking him well before Dovaston.
Lindsay was rated top 10 most of year, will be a steal if he drops outside top 10-12.
I'll take two, pleasehttps://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/dr...n/news-story/88b62c762ef5d80f12e465a81f9ef474

99.8% chance that doesn't happen though.

Cal Twomey's Phantom Form Guide: Top draft prospects' October ranking
AFL.com.au's draft guru Cal Twomey delivers his fourth Phantom Form Guide ahead of the 2025 Telstra AFL Draftwww.afl.com.au
Cals updated draft as of yesterday
Nevertheless, going from previous years, there won't be a huge amount of change from this point to what he has in his mock draft. It's still the best guide we've got as to where players will fall. This is essentially his power rankings not his estimation of where they will be drafted.
It is useful, but I just want to clarify that it's not a mock draft as that is a common confusion
I'd want him even if he supported the Drug Cheats.https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/dr...n/news-story/88b62c762ef5d80f12e465a81f9ef474

He seems to have slipped since the season finished so no apparent reason, Murphy Reid also slipped last year which turned out poor judgement by some teams.Anyone have details on why Lindsay has dropped?
So you have us in deficit even with a bid on Dean at 10.Mini mock draft based on pure guess:
Pick 1 Willem Duursma - WCE
Pick 2 Zeke Uwland (GC bid match w/ pick 15, 18, 24 get 43 back)
Pick 3 Cooper Duff-Tytler - WCE
Pick 4 Daniel Annable (Bris bid match w/ pick 17, 22, pick 42 get pick 55 back)
Pick 5 Xavier Taylor - Rich
Pick 6 Dylan Patterson (GC bid match w/ pick 25, 26, 33 get pick 53 back)
Pick 7 Sullivan Robey - Rich
Pick 8 Dyson Sharp - Ess
Pick 9 Aidan Schubert - Ess
Pick 10 Harry Dean (Carl bid match w/ pick 12 & 14 get pick 15 back
Pick 11 Sam Grlj - Melbourne
Pick 12 Sam Cumming - Melbourne
Pick 13 Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves - Hawthorn
Pick 14 Mitchell Marsh - GWS
Pick 15 Lachlan Dovaston - Carl
Pick 16 Jacob Farrow - WCE
Pick 17 Josh Lindsay - Western Bulldogs
Pick 18 Jevan Phillipou - Adelaide
Pick 19 Max King (Sydney bid match w/27, 28 get 41 back)
Pick 20 Archie Ludowyke - Geel
Pick 21 Adam Sweid (Ess bid match w/ pick 22 get pick 53)
Pick 22 Jack Ison (Carl bid match w/ pick 36, 49. Debt of 214)
Pick 23 Oskar Taylor - Frem
Pick 24 Oliver Greaves - Hawthorn
Why would we do that desk for 104 points? If the Eagles were serious about doing whatever it took to improve our draft hand and in turn our list then this would be the best case result for us.
Pick 1 Duursma (WC) We still get the exposure of taking pick 1.
Pick 2 Uwland (GC)
Pick 3 Annable (BRIS)
Pick 4 Patterson (GC)
Pick 5 ???
For Pick 2 the Suns will need 2,233 points for Uwland so will lose 15,18 & 24 and gain pick 43 back.
For Pick 3 Lions will need 1,961 points for Annable so would lose after their picks shift around 17, 22, 42 & 50 and would go into next years draft 123 points in deficit.
For Pick 4 the Suns will need 1,766 points. After their picks move around they would need to use 25 ,26 ,33 ,41 & 48 and go into next years draft 107 points in deficit.
There's two ways the Eagles could now go from here.
Option 1. Bid on Dean at Pick 5. This would cost the Blues 1,616 in points. They'd need to use pick 12 & 14 but would receive pick 27 back and the Eagles first moves up two spots.
Option 2. Offer the Blues Pick 16 & 30 for Pick 12 & 46. This would give them an additional 104 points and still allow the Eagles to have two picks in the draft to match for Williams who is our academy boy.
The Blues would have picks 15,17,31 & 39. A bid at Pick 6 from the Tigers would cost you 1494 points so you'd still need to use 15 & 17 but you'd also get back pick 35.
Essentially you would get Dean and and be left with picks 29,35 & 38 to make some moves with. Carlton could also split one of their first for Norths seconds for instance and that would make any moves for Dean moot on your first picks but you wouldn't make up many point so it would hardly be worth it.
All the above is very clearly in the Eagles our best interests either way but will we risk upsetting several teams for our own benefit? We are normally a very conservative club who doesn't upset the apple cart so it would take a huge shift in the way the club thinks to do it.
So that's the million dollar question, do we have the balls to do it?
