Watching the highlights for Marsh he has a lot of similarities to Jeremy Cameron with his running ability and booming left foot. On the lead he looks unstoppable!

Has speed and a huge endurance base – he finished eighth in the 2km time trial running it in 6:21 minutes. There is no way he is around at our second pick

Interesting reporting by the Herald Sun the last few days. Essendon supposedly "obsessed" with Cooper Duff-Tytler and are interested in trading up to West Coast pick two...also that CDT is a Hawthorn supporter...mark it down for a few years time

NOTE: also goes on to have this quote by Adam Sweid “I didn’t grow up liking Essendon,” Sweid said.

“When you’re a diehard Hawthorn fan, you don’t like many other clubs. But as I started doing a little bit of work with the Essendon boys, I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for them.”

Agreed, he won't last until our second pick. If Farrow's gone at 10 I wouldn't be overly disappointed that we took him there.

We don't need a slider.
They typically have reasons for being overlooked.
We need a bolter, like a Will Day, Clayton Oliver etc who are high in talent, but had some mitigating factor or hit a run of late hot form.

Or even a contrarian insight like we had on Weddle (written off bc he was an undersized KPD, but we saw him as an offensive weapon around the ground)
Will Day was another where we say him as a midfielder and saw his toughness and game sense. Many saw him as a skinny half back flank.

I don't get the Greeves hate recently. Was highly touted all year until only recently. Recent scarring by HH thoughts?

Reckon he will be a good player
I don’t think it’s hate.

He’s slow. The game is quicker than ever.

Charlie Banfield the son of Drew shows a bit in some of his draft videos and seems like a good lad. I hope we have at least interviewed him with a view to bidding on him later in the draft

I'm happy to see that I wasn't just making it up with what I saw with Marsh. Excellent kick, evasive and always looking to move the ball on and can win his own ball up the ground. Calsher isn't like Gunston, quite a different beast to Jack so, Marsh could easily be the one that replaces him when the time comes.
It's him or nhh at our second pick for me.
Nhh has the most upside btw.

Also, I'm torn on Greeves. Speaking to someone I highly respect reckons he is a strong AFL level pre season or two away from ripping it. His defensive side can be worked on in a elite environment, especially Hawthorn under Sam. At 191, with still a bit of puppy fat around the hips , he's found it hard to run all games out but that frame and growth for a 18 year old can be detrimental early on. Still though , I have 3/4 others ahead of him at our first pick. Btw, this info wasn't from a Hawthorn person.

There’s no hate it’s exactly this. He is basically worpel with less defensive intent, a bit bigger and can do a bit forward. He’s miles behind sharp.
I feel like assuming we take the picks we are a few spots behind where is ideal. Sharp and Cumming for mine at 10 but doubt they quite make it. Similar with Oskar Taylor and NHH at 22. That’s why I thought the eagles suns trade might work,
Can’t get sharp or cumming but likely lands both Taylor and NHH or Marsh.

I doubt that will happen considering we were offering 3 first rounders for an existing 30 year old player. There will be a midfielder / fwd available, I suspect if given choice they will go for small forward in Dovaston ahead of Marsh. I think Marsh has had some negative feedback too, perhaps not consistent, not sure. I think for second pick they may look at a tall forward / small forward, first pick mid/fwd, farrow/cummings/sharp type, help with the rotations and bring some class, pressure, ball winning ability in the middle as well as a danger in fwd line.

I have a sneaky suspicion people will be looking back in 5 years time and wondering why he went so low in this year's draft.

He just looks to have an AFL body to my eyes, he could be a force in the middle once he has a couple of pre seasons

Farrow, Cumming, and Greeves are the three I'd like us to look at at the point in time.
I think we'll end up taking either Farrow or Cumming with our first and hope that Greeves and or the other slide to our second pick.

Terrible deal… if it’s North they can give their F1 and one of their seconds for ten.. We nearly got fleeced in the trade period and now clubs are lining up to fleece us for our first pick.. Mustn’t happen..

I agree, I reckon he could be something special in a few years. He is the type of player that we need, midfielder that can go forward and make an impact.
The knock on him is his speed but he gets to the right spots and he can put on a quick burst when he needs to.
The Hawks definitely see something in him that they really like.

Exactly, the defensive application, aggressiveness and awareness can be worked on at the AFL level.

The positive traits - forward versatility, kicking skill level for a contested midfielder, size and strength are all great. The pace may continue to be an issue that gets exposed at AFL level though.
