The obsession for Sharp is intriguing.

I work with someone who has watched him play since he was 14. Her son's been in SA rep teams with him for years.

Dyson is a ripping lad. Bit of an old school footballer. Completely dominated junior age groups as he was a man in a teenager's body.

Not entirely sure his skill-set will translate to AFL though. Similar to Crouch who was the exact type of player we wanted to eliminate from our midfield.

Will be interesting to see the career he carves out.

Nothing that isn't already public knowledge.

The battle is on between WCE and Adelaide for Pick 9 and Adelaide/St Kilda/Melbourne for 11.

But I'm guessing these deals would be done in real time and would be conditional on the players that are still on offer at each pick.

Do we only want one of these picks?

As I suspected a little while ago, it looks like Marsh is a genuine chance to slip to our pick.

Giants or possibly Essendon if they trade into pick 15 are likely the only teams which may pick our pocket.

Doesn’t mean we will pick him…I hope we do though.

Also looks like McGowan was on the money re: Nairn to Dees, which was a ballsy call. Twomey also corroborated his suggestions that the Giants like Pickett and that we are fans of Thredgold.

I don't know if many clubs are obsessed with him. He'll still be gone a while before our first pick though. If Essendon bypass hm it will be a real kick in the cods given he's all out for them

Yes, but it will be complicated because it would require a calculated guess on who may still be available, given the deal would need to be done ahead of any Dean bid.
Any gut feel on what picks would be required from us?

Also if you’re such fans of Dovaston would it not be in your best interest to just hold your picks and hope he gets to whatever 11 slides to?

I could be completely naive, but I can’t see a bid coming for Dean until Melbourne’s first pick, personally.

West Coast - unlikely to bid that high on someone outside the top few prospects.

Richmond - don’t need a key defender and wouldn’t want to look like bad-faith operators ahead of their own academy prospects next year (Armstrong, Roberts).

Essendon - see above, plus I think there’s an unofficial “alliance” with Carlton after both were stitched up by the new DVI ahead of Dean, Walker, Bewick, Darwish, Rodan etc

Will push Carlton’s first pick back to 14 which will according to my phantom will still have some likely types available (should they not trade it out).

WCE - Duursma
WCE - CDT (bid on Uwland)
Rich - X Taylor
Rich - Robey (bid on Annable and Patterson)
Ess - Sharp
Ess - Cumming
Melb - Schubert (bid on Dean)
Melb - Nairn
Haw - Farrow

Remaining at pick 14: Grlj, Dovaston, Lindsay, Marsh etc.

I think Adelaide would swap out R1 2026 and maybe 48? But that’s where it could get complicated as we need points for Ison.

The most likely outcome by a LONG way is that neither of those guys amount to anything. You can OCCASIONALLY get a tall forward late, but it's really rare because they're so wanted.
We already have two gun KPFs though and will be adding Ah Chee and also have Curtin floating through. Why do we need another tall forward?

Maley and Murray are fine as developing depth options, so another developing one doesn’t really seem a priority at all.

Would Richmond view GCS/BL academies different to FS?

Twomey seems to think Essendon second pick at the latest for Dean. He’s a dons nuffie so should know. Would still be a good result for you guys I’d think?

Schubert to Dees seems to be unlikely based on what we’re hearing. Twomey suggesting Farrow probably the one for the Dees (Taylor tends to pick from WA too) which would help you guys for Dovaston as they would’ve been the biggest obstacle you’d think.

Not so much other clubs, but more so posters on this board.

With Zac Merrett probably attempting another departure end of next season, Dyson probably sees himself as a walk-up start in Essendon's midfield come 2027, whereas it's a little bit of wait and see at other clubs.

The Richmond bidding would be more for need as opposed to for the sake of it - they clearly don’t need anymore KPD.

Twomey definitely gets genuine inside mail from Essendon, but I’m just flagging that some of it might be strategic (similar to West Coast’s ambit claim about bidding at pick 2) to create leverage in trade talks.

He’s been known to act as a bit of a mouthpiece for them in the media, like during the Merrett trade saga, and again today with the suggestion they’re eyeing Pick 9.

I’ve linked Shubert to Melbourne purely based on their clear need for a key forward to partner with Van Rooyen and Jefferson.

That said, it’s splitting hairs, because according to my calcs … even if Essendon bid with their second pick, it still forces us back to 14, so there’s not much difference either way.

Of course, I could be completely off the mark and West Coast might go ahead and bid on him at pick 1… so who knows?

Are reports of WCE giving 13 and 34 for 9 correct? Twomey said today he doesn’t think a trade happens.

I know you need Ison points but to me that seems unders from the Eagles?

That’s what they’re offering … against the veiled threat of “or else we can bid on Dean at 2!!!”

Lets not talk about bad-faith operators when Carlton were haggling until the last minute when trading a known ice addict to Richmond

Caveat Emptor.

I’m pretty sure we’ve been over this before, but the entire world knew that Yarran had gambling and drug issues (including Richmond).

Besides.. we can’t be holding grudges by previous regimes from over 10 years ago?

Just saying, Dean will be bid on early.

Who replaces Fog?

Rach. TT. ANB
Keays. Fog. Ah Chee

There’s 6 first choice forwards that are locked in for the next 2 years. Add Pedlar, Taylor and rotating mids, plus potentially rotating Curtin and Dawson through there and Fog is well covered. If we unearth a better forward, great, if not, we’re well covered.

There would be about 10 SA lads I would prefer us to take before Thredgold. Nothing against the lad, he seems like an ok prospect, but a 194cm KPD who is looking like a second rounder is not where we should be spending our Draft capital. Hopefully our interest is for if we trade in on the second day but I'm worried now.

I think Dawson will spend more time forward next season, especially if Curtin and Draper can have genuine impact through the midfield.
