You do know that sometimes Nev gets mail? I'm more inclined to believe what he says than what you speculate.

No I don’t believe he does unless you want to beleive him stating his guesses as facts like above. If he did though, I’m sure his club sources are thrilled he is blasting out our intentions all over a public forum a few days out from the draft.

While I am a nuffie for a good (or a bad) leak, I find it highly unlikely anyone is leaking to blokes to post it on Bigfooty a few days out from draft night.

Don’t think it’s a big risk as one of Sharp/Cumming/Grlj was already going to slide so they would have to risk 2 of them sliding to take Farrow earlier.

If Sharp and Grlj are both there at our picks it’s a good thing for us and a no brainer really.
not linked to either Sharp or Grlj. we've known this for some time...

Gotta love it when that guy who has knowledge of deep inside confidential information appears. Not just of 1 club, but of 2 in this scenario.

There is 0% chance this guy knows this as fact but states it as it is fact.
Cal Twomey is the source. which is as good as it gets. It does seem that if Sharp is there, we won't be taking him.

May have been mentioned multiple times but I still think it is overstated. I do think if we've identified someone this year which won't be available at our 3rd pick I think it's worth considering f1 despite it being a 'weaker' draft. Not that I'm advocating for it, just that I trust our recuiters to make the right decision in that case. In terms of weakest ever, well nothing will top 2003 imo Cooney, Walker, Sylvia, Ray, McLean and Bradley as the top 6. That's probably the worst in the 21st century at least.

I think 2020 will comfortably take that crown - 3 of the top 10 already delisted, and 4 others in the top 12 didn't get get on the park this year. Holmes, Gulden and Thilthorpe the only stars.

Whose closer?

Culley has speed, contest and combative in the air. Absolute jet.
Christ you're a weird unit. West Coast arent cutting potential Brownlow winners. 😂

I like Culley but calm the **** down.

With North and Bombers trading for pick 9 and 11. Wonder if the first few picks go a certain way and players slide would they try and move up more to our pick 7 or 8.

We could slide back a few pick and not pay overs for Nairn. Also we could upgrade the GC f1 to bombers or North

Ess trade-
Melb out- Pick 7+8
Melb in- pick 9 + ESS F1
Draft hand
2025- 9
2026- Our F1, Ess F1,GC F1

North trade
Melb out- Pick 8+ GC F1
Melb in - pick 11 + North F1
Draft hand -
2025- 7,11
2026- our F1,North F1

With the 2026 draft rules changing for bid matching having as many quality first round picks could set us up.

I was thinking one more recently but couldn't be bothered looking it up. Yes 2020 was a stinker but I will give it a slight out due to being the first year of covid. Still very stingy of talent outside the 'top 10'. Nevertheless this one seems much stronger than those 2.

Think they still need points, although haven't bothered following super closely, so that wouldn't be appealing to the Blues.

I think sliding back would be savvy but I really doubt teams like ESS and Norf will trade F1s with next year’s draft so much stronger. Same as our F1. All likely to be very low picks.

2020 was a bad draft but it would look better if 4 of the top 10 didn't have massively disrupted careers for reasons not to do with their talent (off the rails personal life for JUH and Hollands, terrible injury runs for Cox and Reid).

I mean I also said in my previous reply to Mich0 that I was basing things on gossip, logic and media reports. He's just upset as always.

Twomey hasn’t categorically said anything, he has just made bets each way. Eg “If Richmond don’t take Grlj he “could” slip through to GWS”

That’s just a vague open statement which could mean we are taking him or we aren’t taking him at our picks. He hasn’t said “Dees won’t be taking him”.

Twomey changed on what the Trac trade was going to look like about 4 times during trade period with West Coast landing with pick 8 from GC initially.

Neither have I. Lol. You're in such a rush to crack it at anyone and everyone that you can't even remember what the point was.

There's obviously no guarantees but it's using common sense and reading between the lines. So it's all info from the player managers. Cal Twomey would speak to a manager and they might say to Cal 'look, Essendon and Rich have spoken to him 3 times a day in the last 3 days. We haven't heard from the Dees for 3 weeks'. These are the sort of inferences that Cal Twomey would be making.

If the Dees were linked with Grlj and Sharp etc. he would've mentioned it. But nothing so far. I'd like Sharp but none of the mail suggests we'll take him.

Last years mail had us taking Tauru at pick 5, so need to take it with a grain of salt.

Yep our trade out of that draft and trade into 2019 made us look like hindsight geniuses. I'm still kinda surprised that more didn't make it from later in the draft. There's a handful of B/C graders but more blokes have been delisted since than are still in the comp.

Fingers crossed 7+8 are 200 gamers for us.

We ended up with Bowey which has been a solid pick up.

This site has us taking Taylor, Nairn and trading our F1 (gold coast) for Lindsay

Mind you it's zero hanger.
Interesting. The Hawk supporter who has had good info on our drafting previously suggested a slide involving Lindsay too.

Taylor sliding to our pick would be a nice surprise. I think he makes too much sense for Essendon to pass on though.

Would be happy with Taylor, but would try pair him with Dove if we got a later pick. Need tha forward pressure in 2026

All part of the back and forth with the Bombers about Sharp I reckon.
Do you think that they're still hostile over the Merrett situation?

Probably, but more meant that the potential for that trade, and maybe the fact the rumour is out there, is all part of the Sharp pick game of chicken between us and Essendon.

Most of us do take things with a grain of salt old mate. There’s only a few ahem who hang off every word and melt over picks we haven’t made yet 😂
Im worried Mich0 has worn himself out on the Nairn selection and we arent going to get the colossal blowup on draft night that I want.

Oh I think he'll have that in him.
