Grlj. Make it happen.
I went back and watched a lot of his highlights yesterday and other than his obvious traits he’s very clean at ground level, stronger in the contest than I had given credit for and I like his hands and his run to get 1-2. If he’s available I would be totally onboard can see him playing in multiple positions which we obviously like and adding something we lack inside and on the wings.

Cal Twomey has said that we have some interest in moving down the order.
Anyone heard anything regarding that?
This from what I posted the other day:
We haven't ruled out any pick swaps, either trading down from 22 with our F1 (we're looking into this with a couple of clubs) or trading up from 10.
However, there's three players now we've shortlisted and are very keen on with our first. Only if all three were gone (i think this is unlikely) would we look at trading 10 for a later pick in the first round.

I hope we get Grixyijbwkqlj with 10 (I would be happy if we traded up slightly to get him) and hopefully Greeves falls to 22 somehow (probably pretty unlikely). If Greeves falls lots we could trade up slightly from 22 to get him like Adelaide did with Curtin 2 years ago.

To all the people talking down Greeves, go have a look at Bontempelli’s draft profile first
Huh? Bont profile was as a more outside mid that took ground with elite kicking...was also able to accumulate quite heavily

Nothing against Greeves but beside their height their draft profile could not be more different.

Lol you have just described Greaves. He is not an inside mid

He averaged 12 contested possessions and 4.5 clearances for Vic Metro. Definitely part of his game.

It's what makes him so appealing for me, and like Newcombe, he might look like a one paced inside mid, but he's both inside and outside and very damaging with his possessions.

Also like Newcombe is that his marking for a midfielder is a big weapon. I just feel this might be a Cripps moment when clubs are spooked by his running ability.

Providing Sharp and Cumming are gone, I'd be just as interested to see what we could get from North for pick 10 tbh.

I like Dovaston, but I'm still interested to see Hill in year 2. And I think Cody Anderson is a watch for forward pressure also.

10 for 25, 46 and F2.

Recruiters and teams appear really divided on this draft. With 22 and 25 I think we could get a look at NHH, Greaves, Marsh, Barker and Oscar Taylor.

I've looked at clips of Greaves again. I'm just not sure how we can pass on him if there in the 20's. He's a smart footballer, very good by foot and hand, keeps the ball moving which means he's damaging. I can imagine the reservations on Newcombe if he was ready for the draft at 18 would have been similar to Greaves.

Just get this guy into the system and I think he'll surprise with how decent a runner he is. How damaging he is with his possessions. A big inside mid who is a very good kick, compliments Newcombe and allows Ward and Mackenzie to be more outside.

Norths F2 will be very handy next year.
That is very smart, if Sharp and Cumming are gone, 22 and 25 are plenty to get Greaves/Barker. There really is not much better prospect for what we want at 10. It would be awesome if can get a F2 on top of 46 as well. Good work! Hope greaves is there as I expect him to be and most people know he is connected to us. His tank, aerobic ability or lack of it has been publicised enough, which can only mean a slide, pitty he had to test in private recently and test well.

I could be wrong but the teams before our second pick re Geelong and adelaide, I can’t see them taking Greeves, they have enough slow midfielders

I have a sneaky suspicion we might pass up on Grlj if he's available at our pick or even trade back and grab someone else.

Reading between the lines Twomey has never really associated us with the Griller. He's always maintained that Grlj would "either go at the Tigers pick or all the way down to the Giants pick".

Perhaps we're not as interested in him as some may have mentioned.
One club Twomey has not as much of and idea on is The Hawks!
I don’t think we leak as bad as other clubs.
I think MM only leaks what he wants Twomey to know.
That is just my observation though.

Players with raw speed open up the field ahead of them when they take the game on. We see precisely this when Weddle, Impey, and Amon go for a dash. This to me is the appeal of players like Sam Grlj and Oskar Taylor. Their athleticism is a real weapon in the modern game.

Personally I'll be ecstatic if we land the George Foreman Grlj.

Okay I just watched a fair amount of Oskar Taylor highlights and I'm converted. Sorry to anyone who I argued against saying we wouldn't take a half back.

I don’t understand the angst with Oskar Taylor?
He has pace great agility and beautiful kicking.
Eventually he may be able to go through the middle.
I feel he would be a better option than Josh Lindsay in my opinion?

I watched his highlight video on Rookie Me Central over the weekend. He looks like he is in second gear most of the time but did seem to have a reasonable change of pace when required.
I liked what I saw and would be more than happy to have him at the Hawks.

Would there be a little bit of a 'romantic' connection to Geelong? His great-great-uncle is Cargi Greeves after all.
