Im worried Mich0 has worn himself out on the Nairn selection and we arent going to get the colossal blowup on draft night that I want.

Think I have juiced the Nairn blow ups for now until he plays his first match and gets 3 disposals and his HBF opponent racks up 30. We have St Kilda round one so Sinclair and NWM would be rubbing there hands together.

Few tidbits from this that relate to the Dees.

Melbourne is viewed as the front-runner for Cam Nairn, who received a surprise invite to night one of the AFL Draft. Viewed by most as a later first or second round prospect, Nairn played as an undersized forward at the U18s National Championships but is viewed as capable of playing on the wing.

GWS has been heavily linked to mature-aged Glenelg forward Latrelle Pickett in recent days with its first selection. There was an expectation the Giants would look to Oskar Taylor, but there is now a belief that Pickett has surpassed Taylor in their reckoning. Sam Grlj has also been linked to the Giants, should Richmond overlook him, with the Vic Metro co-captain likely available at their selection if he gets passed the Tigers.

As of Sunday evening, Zero Hanger believes Richmond's two most likely selections will be Sullivan Robey and Xavier Taylor, the latter a lifelong Richmond fan who the Tigers will hope can succeed his idol, Nathan Broad. Speedster Sam Grlj remains in the mix, while the club is also understood to have put some late work into Sam Cumming, but Robey and Taylor are viewed as the front runners at this stage.

A bid for West Coast Next Generation Academy small forward Tylah Williams is now widely anticipated to come on the first night of the AFL Draft. Williams was consistent in an indifferent campaign for the Black Swans and blitzed the National Combine, and is viewed among the top three small forwards in the crop, alongside Lachy Dovaston and Latrelle Pickett.

Sam Cumming and Dyson Sharp are two players that have been heavily linked to Essendon, but whether those two remain the players in the Bombers' sights following the anticipated trade remains to be seen.

Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves has been most closely linked to Fremantle, Hawthorn, West Coast and Essendon, and could come into consideration for a couple more at the back end of the first round and early in the second round. The Dandenong co-captain never found continuity in 2025 due to a shoulder injury, concussion and illness, but is a genuine match-winner whose best is in the top 10, so a club could use a first-round selection given the significant upside.

You worry about things no one ever has worried about. 😂

interesting Phillipou or Greeves not in his top 30.
If Greeves isn't top 30 there must be some serious questions around his work ethic id say. Phillipou massively overrated from the start imo, I thought his tape was pretty shit.

Or his interview was terrible. Like he seems disinterested or disengaged.

Same thing, I meant doesnt have the hunger for the game and cruises on talent.
Or arrogance/entitlement.

What is the quote: Hard Work always beats talent when talent doesn't work hard enough.

Yeah Nairn and Farrow looks underwhelming if that's how it goes. Neither really excite me. Nairn just adds another mid sized forward to the many we already have. Farrow is just meh. I'd rather take a swing at a Pickett who looks much more dynamic and is also a need as a zippy small forward. Might actually help keep Koz at the club as a bonus too. It just looks like we aren't quite in the bracket of picks you need to be in this draft. Although i am surprised we aren't into Sharp. Don't think he looks a gun, but does have outstanding leadership qualities and is probably the best mid available at our pick. In a way I'm hoping we package something up to get Robey but doubt that happens now without giving up capital from next years draft which looks much better than this one. Although top 2 picks already look like locks for academy and father/son lol.

Nairn will play wing IMO. Means Langford goes into the middle.
Farrow means River will also go into the middle.
Still fairly meh for both.

Are Essendon getting something else back with pick 9 from Carlton?

Would it be worth trying the following:

Send 8 to Essendon for 21, 27 and 30
Send 21, 27, 30 and 37 to Gold Coast for 15 and 18

Sure we move back 7 places, but if we're going with Nairn and he's still there at 15 anyway, we could get a chance at Pickett / Marsh / Schubert / Hibbins-Hargreaves whoever else is considered a slider

I am ok with Farrow but would prefer Taylor but that’s out of our control. If available you take him type of pick.

Re Nairn, we have **** all mid sized forwards on our list after Trac/Joel Smith left and Melksham on last legs. So I get it from that perspective. Just I rather get more speed in the team personally and not reach for a bloke who’s ranked 25 as an average across all phantoms. Taylor either sees something no one else does, or is missing something everyone else sees.

Surely we go a small forward at this pick. Leon Kickett maybe. Taylor indicated was some small forwards later in the draft. (Prob why our reluctance to grab Doverston)
I dont think we get Greeves, 37 is way back by the time all the bullshit academy bids are made.
