Depends though. If you trade out some quality talent and get picks because of that then it is quite fair.

Not without having to trade out players to pay for them with 2 top 10 picks snd 2 other high firsts. The allowing clubs to use picks for bids that they dont have list spots for is a joke.

If you didn't support Sydney (one of the expanding Northern States) you wouldn't have said that mate. Considering the pre trade/draft period and the post period this is one of the greatest post season hauls of all time

If the bid was one spot later bombers probably match. The difference between a deficit being applied to next years 1st vs 2nd rounder.

Why wasn't it?

We have discussed this before. You should not be able to use more than 2 picks to match a bid, at least one of those picks should be within 5-10 spots of the bid and you shouldn't be able to use picks on the night you dont have list spots for (ie if you have 5 list spots you can only use 5 picks to match any bids-this would force clubs to either delist another 5 or 6 players to match bids or let academy guys go).

Not a lot of talent lost mostly fringe players. You can't convince me otherwise the system and rive toward Northern States growth has been kind to them this off-season. The AfL need the Suns to be good, they are happy.
