Did trading up 2 places cost Sydney any more than they would have had to pay to match a bid 2 places later or was it the same picks they would have used anyway? What’s the points differential?

Oh, and btw, Welcome Oskar. Liked the look of his highlights package.

Same picks used, but they would have got less residual, so a lower pick coming back.

Whether it's cost them anything really just depends on when the next bid comes for a player. Max King or Lachie Carmichael.

Swans didn't match on Carmichael! Maybe our early bid did cost them!

May have cost them Carmichael the way it worked out

Where was that intel that Hawks would take Taylor?

A secon round pick this year and next year to move up 4 spots.

Caruso is a waste of space.

Caruso with some of his finest work as usual, 2 second round picks to move up a few spots for a guy that was rated at about pick 20 anyway. Nuts how many picks the guy has burnt the past few years trying to be clever. Taylor is a good pick up don't get me wrong, but eventually this silliness will come back to bite.

On face value Hawthorn has had a very good night. Banked future picks and selected some highly rated picks at value.
I think so too.
They used 1 to move up, but got 2 picks back.

I really like what Essendon did as well.

His job is to build a list, he has built a terrific list by continuing to bring in good players.
It's not about draft picks or where they are rated it's about using your hand to get the team you want.
WE had 1 list spot and filled it with the type of player we wanted.
I much rather this approach than what SOS and Dodoro do and focus on being the trade winner.

TRADES COMPLETED DURING 2025 AFL DRAFT
Gold Coast Suns receive Pick 35. GWS receives 2026 second-round pick (tied to Melbourne)
GWS Giants receive Pick 14. Hawthorn receives Pick 16 and a 2026 second-round pick

Comment: If we kept Melbourne's 2nd round pick and gave Hawks our own 2nd round pick, it's a better outcome for us.
