I have a sneaking suspicion we are gonna trade up for Thredgold to sure up the KPD stocks of the next 5+ years.

You would have to assume that we will lose 1 of our 3 top guys next offseason. And Borlase is next man up (for now).

As much as we all want a mid, at this point of this draft KPD might be better value.
Or he can go to North and we get him back in 2 years time? If he isn't being drafted by us, North is the next best option, will likely be the first name called tonight

I’m sorry, but these highlights do nothing to make me think he’s an elite talent. Just my opinion. I’ll take your word for it.
Hey we're talking about a player with pick 46 that has size, top end speed, top end hops, clean hands that can get above most tacklers with plenty of upside. Someone must have rated him enough to select him in this year's U18's AA team after the Nationals.

Last I checked it's a forum for throwing out opinions pea nut but good on ya!
Yeah it is. And yeah any of us could open a dupe account and go post on the Port Power board about how complete dogshit their off-season has been. Bringing in Jacob Wehr, Corey Turdin and Will Brodie, alongside picks 62 and 67 tonight. What a state that club is in. And gonna lose Butters next year. Ooof.

So it seems that Essendon picked Farrow ahead of Sharp was because they knew Melbourne were likely to pick Farrow but not Sharp. If we had Carlton's pick 9 then Essendon may well have been made to choose between Farrow (Melb) and Sharp (Adl), but the order they went with wasn't necessarily the talent order, just the order that was most likely to net both players.

Anybody saying if we had pick 9 we would have gotten Sharp is not taking this into account.
most likely correct, but I like Farrow as a player more so I understand why Essendon picked him 1st to keep him out of Melbourne's clutches

So you've watched actual games he played in not just a few highlights reels.

Looks ok

Good height good hands slight knock on his kicking to a target - would like him to extend his leg more

Works in traffic. Strong around the hips.

Start at half back and work his way into the midfield

Can see the Dawson comparison

Elite is not Mutineer word its what the draft team call it

I agree he isnt elite but thats a label more than anything. I see a good footballer that needs not much work

Problem was that Melbourne were never shifting of their picks regardless of who Essendon took. And well we weren't getting Richmond's picks without a lot more collateral than we had.

Essendon played it smart knowing that Sharp was likely not on their (Melbourne's) list to take at 11 and 12. So Essendon took potentially a bit of a flyer at 10 hoping (taking a very educated guess) Sharp would still be at 13.

Us trading with Carlton for 13 pre seeing where people were drafted would have seen Essendon take Sharp earlier and therefore us not get who we would have hoped for in that sense.

Essendon then dangling the carrot to see of we'd sell the farm for 13 which we didn't which is fine but they take Sharp there.

As mentioned above smart by Essendon in all parts of the draft and trade aspects of this last night.
Does Sharp receive less income not being top 10?

About $10K less $120,000 vs $130,000

Play games ahead of the others and or other incentives and has the chance to make more.

This early in the career I don't think he'd be to concerned about 10K. I mean I wouldn't be as an 18 y/o earning $120K.

That ELITE Rookie Me use is more about the tools and natural talent the draftees have to make into top AFL players if they realise their natural talents. Not as ELITE today.

I think he looks good as well. Definite smooth mover, a good size and clean hands. Sure, doesn’t have the class of a top 5 pick, but more than enough to work with. Obvious flaw was no left foot. Was very awkward trying to kick on the left.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already but if we were that keen in Sharp did we try and get up the order ahead of Essendon?
Sounds like we tried to do a deal with Essendon, but wasnt he always tipped to go there?
There were only 4 live picks before Essendon's picks. Unlikely Richmond were going to offload their top picks. The only chance we would've had was to do a secret deal with Melbourne once Essendon had their first 2 picks, but our first pick wouldn't have been close enough to tempt a deal.

I agree, a kid on that money with no bills to pay would think he is rolling in cash. But isn't the contract length shorter for top 10 as well? They're able to negotiate sooner?

Such a clean, one grab player who uses his speed from stoppages.

I recall Matt Rendell saying he made a mistake at Collingwood not taking Cripps because they were concerned about his endurance. He learnt his lesson.

And he fits the needs test.

Could Ross the boss and the Saints make a play for Philippou junior now he's got through to tonight, was a very strong rumour early in the week. Saints have pick 40 currently but no surprise now if they offer up some 2026 collateral to rise up the board.

Don’t see the Dawson comparison tbh

I definitely see Freijah type comparison in these highlights

There’s a reason Onley isn’t anywhere near the first round. Do we really need another mid with poor kicking and poor decision making? We already have Draper
I feel you may have fallen into the 'If they don't explode in their first year as a high pick they're a bust' mindset. We only have to look back to 2024 with Curtain when people were calling him a bust for not doing a Nick Daicos in his first year, and look at him now. Draper will be a star, let the kid develop, trust the process.

That's going to happen when you decide half way through the first to change up your midfield set up on a whim 10 minutes into the first quarter.

Laird and Taylor being in that unit was purely Nicks and co. living in their fears, nothing more.

I still can’t believe Laird ended up in the midfield in the finals.

Absolute clown show stuff.

Would Onley be your first pick for us with what’s left on the board?
1.Talor Byrne
2. Riley Onley
3. Blake Oudshoon- Bennier
4. Taj Murray

Dan Batten and Chris Cavanagh's take on who we may look at tonight.

However, the Bombers knocked back that offer to snap up Sharp with what was their third pick in the draft. The Crows will make one or two selections on night two, given they need to hold over a list spot to grab Callum Ah Chee in the pre-season draft on Friday. They have been linked to big-bodied midfielders Riley Onley and Ollie Greeves, as well as another key forward in Cody Curtin – the younger brother of current Crow Dan. If Archie Ludowyke slid all the way into 40s, they would be a big chance to snap him up.
