I reckon you could add Boyd and Hetherington to the Upside list, both have shown a bit in their limited exposure to date imoLooking at next year, would this be a fair assessment of North? -
We get less from: EK & KS
Plateau: Garner; Emma K; Sheerin; Ash; Birch; Randall
Upside: Erika; Ruby; Nicole; Fergie; Eliza; Smith; Gatt; Mia; AGM; Bogue; Wall
Dark Horse: WT; Wright; Slocombe
Anyone who's had too much to drink at any point has had that look. Here but not quite here.Ash looks like she is listening but she is sleeping on the inside lol
Slocombe might go back to the Eagles too. Offset by KLWT probablyI reckon you could add Boyd and Hetherington to the Upside list, both have shown a bit in their limited exposure to date imo
Nicole Bresnehan is an interesting one. She might go from being a regular starter to more of a squad player. Not the quickest and coming off a knee injury isn’t historically a great combination. But she’s a solid player who the coaches obviously rate.Looking at next year, would this be a fair assessment of North? -

Obviously the Repetitive One will call for Shannon to make way for Flash ignoring the fact that Shannon plays taller.
Will be interesting to see what happens with Kate Shierlaw (retiring?) and Ella Slocombe (trade to WA club?). Does Niamh Martin return?

You just know the AFL would dud us an give the Pies a foundation license ahead of us when they form an AFsnaiL despite us being a backer from way back! Some interesting thoughts in here . I never really post about this but I think there are many reason why many don’t currently support the aflw.
Football team sports of all codes are old and domestically have been ingrained as male. So imo it will take a couple of generations where it is seen as main stream . It can be mentally draining following any team and some probably just don’t want to be invested in another team, I understand.
For me personally, I would support a team of snails if it wore North colours , but that’s me and not everyone else.
So when our ladies were finally allowed in , I didn’t even think about it .
Sure a minority may have other agendas but this will take time to be accepted by the majority. But for me, I like many, are enjoying the spoils.

Absolutely love this, will put a few oppo fans into meltdown, but actually proves why we should have had a team from the start! The 2018 handshake that created two premiership captains

l think Kate will retire leaving the way open for KLWT to come in.I am not a coach but I rate her as well, she improved a lot in 2024. I think the long break between seasons gives more time for the ACL to heal and strengthen, hopefully she will be 100%.
I don't think it is just a Nostra issue, the club didn't have her in the 2024 GF team and we recruited Sheerin who we played down back as well. We will have to wait for list changes, I thought her defending was first class in the GF, the disposal is probably what is holding her back from making a half back spot her own.
I think Kate's form dropped off a fair bit, understandable given her age. I don't mind older players slowing down but she seemed to be struggling with the physical contests. Not sure if it was injury related soreness or just getting old.
I am wondering if we would have to let her go to bring in hyphens from the Dogs. We might be at risk of the AFL blocking the trade if we make our squad even stronger, there is scope for them to do so with trades if they think it creates a problem. Although, I am surprised they didn't do that with Sheerin last year. I guess 2 years being undefeated and back to back flags more of a red flag than 1.
Martin stayed in Ireland to finish her education, I assume that is over with then she might return.
Slocombe did say she would like to go home to WA for more opportunity, she needed a tsunami of injuries and resting of players to get a game.
Is Wright going to retire? I hadn't seen anything publicly about her going on or not but it is a possibility.
Wonder if Emma is already planning to coach us after Darren. The 2018 handshake that created two premiership captains

I hope we keep Slocombe, if she’s willing to be patient a spot will eventually open up in 2 years timel think Kate will retire leaving the way open for KLWT to come in.
Slocombe will make way for Nhiam to come back in as l think she is still cotracted for next year.
l think Wright will retire leaving us another place to fill. She didnt seem to be as invested in the aftermath celebrations and looked uncomfortable being there.
I was hoping we gave Stubs a chance in the back end of the season when we had top place sown up but looks like her papers have been stamped.I hope we keep Slocombe
Delist stubs
That's why old farts still talk about the great players of the 90's

Surely this elevates to Kearney to North Legend status. The greatest recruiting move since Greg Miller's recruitment of Longmire and Carey. The 2018 handshake that created two premiership captains

Agree. We lack some young talls coming through either end, but if we get KLWT we're looking a little better up forward with Ariana and Claire as options too. Less options down back in terms of talls.I think this issue goes beyond the defence - I thought it was noticeable in the Melbourne game that their young KPDs pretty much smashed our tall forwards, and it needed the mid group to win that game. Rennie also was well beaten against Melbourne (at leasts in the hit outs). Hetherington gave honest service when she played, but she's not particularly tall, and other than her, there's not much coming through
I can’t pretend to have any clue about Sarah Wright’s thought processes. Having said that, if it were me, I’d feel a little awkward, having not been involved in a single moment of the season, not even training. The rest of the squad would definitely support her to the hilt. However, it would still be hard for her. As I said, I have no clue. I just don’t think we can say how invested she is.l think Kate will retire leaving the way open for KLWT to come in.

true however its a hard place to come back from...not being involved in a single moment this season not even training. It would take a tremendous effort for her to get back into the side from here..l just think she will retire.I can’t pretend to have any clue about Sarah Wright’s thought processes. I think she's played her last game for us, however I wouldn't be surprised to see her pop in the vflw for a separate club then eventually sign for a different aflw club.true however its a hard place to come back from...not being involved in a single moment this season not even training. Are there any other player that we might be interested in trying to get to come to North? If there is then they will have to understand that there might be a waiting list to get a game..Trade period opens tomorrow would assume we get KLWT as one of the first trades
