It's almost impossible to prove someone is making a false accusation unless they admit it later. Someone being found not guilty doesn't mean the alleged victim was lying, and someone being guilty doesn't mean they were telling the truth either.

Does anyone here know much about the conditions of the Melbourne Assessment Prison for where Silvangi is being held? ie is it the same as prison? And is this somewhere people on trial are held indefinitely till sentenced? (If yes, harsh for those who in fact innocent.) On another note, is this where the guy on trial for the Easey St murders has been held all year since being extradicted start of the year?

MAP is considered one of the worst places to be in terms of prison conditions, more restrictions than remand centre and an actual prison unit. Plus it can be extremely volatile given the turnover of people.

You're taking a really strange angle on this making it about the others in the family. The story is absolutely horrible, Tom's behaviour was atrocious and he is going to be going to jail for a very long time and basically destroyed his own life in a night through his own actions. That's without even mentioning the toll on the victim, good on her for having the guts to report it and see justice served.

Exactly. It’s hard to be found innocent when you’ve botched an uber receipt. So it makes just about zero sense about how they’ve gone about this.

Amazing how many people get caught via something daft altering electronic documents. Unless you are really really good it can be picked up from forensic document analysis with relative ease. Well his phone would have been handed in to police with his uber history. You can’t fake that. I dare say he simply doctored a screen shot to try and convince her she “dreamt” it

Tbf im not sure you can pin this one on the footy industry just because his dad and brother are footballers.

I am sure that you can! As a woman and club member of an AFL Club that has had its fair share of problems with players getting hammered on a night out with team mates and it ending in a female being sexually assaulted. It IS a cultural thing especially when mixed with alcohol or drugs. He knew exactly what he was doing AND that it was wrong! I think he’s lost everything because of one bad decision… his freedom… his career and his self respect. Sad but only HE can take responsibility for what he’s done and try to make amends. He has a long time in jail to think it over. OH and FTR the ‘victim’ (what a terrible thing to be) the lovely woman can talk all she wants about it!!! I THINK SHE HAS EARNT THAT RIGHT!
