Let's talk Ports! Part 3

Basic is fine. Generic is not. I just want to look at it and feel like it's a Port guernsey, which, if we'd won anything over the last 15 years I might regardless, but we haven't. The emotional connection to the SBS guernsey is so much higher because I watched Warren Tredrea win 4 AA guernseys and then lift the Premiership Cup wearing it.

The failure chevrons are a symbol of our descent into the Southern Power. We don't win finals. We eschew the culture that made our club great. We hate accountability. We wear an ode-to-genericism guernsey designed by a 9 year old kid. We're trying to be everyone's second favourite team. We made the community proud. We marginalise club greats who ask for us to have some respect for the history of the club.
Yeah, I don’t think it’s that deep.

It’s just a guernsey, it hasn’t influenced results in finals for us.

It’s a better looking guernsey than the SBS, which was pretty shit to be honest. And we experienced more than our fair share of failure in that guernsey too.

Looks like we're heading into Davey Jones locker territory again

reading all this tealery and still trying to figure out which one of you is/was "brad the brain".

I'd have no issue with them doing away with the white reverse away thing however the teal version is an absolute shocker and looks bad enough when the girls wear it. I want experimentation with shiny-ish silver (isn't there an NFL team that does it well?) not battle ship grey.

Silver and white chevrons on the home black kit with not a whiff of teal to be seen would be worth a look as well.

Oakland/LA/LV Raiders do silver.

I did a quit search I've been talking about using "Shiny Silver like the Oakland Raiders" / now Los Vegas Raiders, since 2008.

Jerry Rice's old #80 jersey comes up better than the one Ford posted.

There are a couple of shiny material white jerseys below. but the helmet silver, is what we should aim for.

Yea that one pops a bit more it's baffling why we don't experiment more with it, you could play around with pre-season guernseys until you hit one that really works.

The club has never shown an appetite for it. Pity, it would rock. Black and silver prison bars, hey they're not white stripes.
Collingwood knocked that on the head before we even got in. Too close to black and white. Then the afl sent us off to find another colour. Hence teal (and silver being an official club colour despite not being anywhere near a guernsey for 20 years)

I've had a feeling Collingwood are something to do with us binning the silver/battleship grey away kit with it tied up in 'allowing' us the PB's once a year.

There's another Koch legacy bend over & clamp the PB's to a home showdown forever with no wiggle room.

Inside the millennium falcon.

Landspeeder is my favourite vehicle, so I'm gonna go with that.

On a massive Battlestar Galactica kick atm, bingeing the absolute shit outta the 1978 series. Man, I've always loved the look of those Colonial Vipers. Also:

Cylons > Stormtroopers

It sort of has. At least they both come from the same root cause, and it's this club's who-gives-a-shit attitude towards excellence.

The guernsey is fine. The nickname is fine. Making finals is fine. Ollie Wines going waterskiing a few weeks before the start of the season is fine. Losing a home PF by a record margin is fine. Ken Hinkley's record is fine. David Koch thinks everything is going fine.

Is the guernsey the best possible guernsey that Port Adelaide could wear (even acknowledging the issues surrounding the PBs at AFL level)? Do we have the best possible nickname, do we brand ourselves in the best possible way given our enormous storied history?

If we aren't waking up in the morning and pissing excellence in every facet of the club, we're not doing enough. It absolutely is that deep.
