Series wrapped up. 3-0 and now the narrative shifts to Englands hunt for their first win on Australian soil since January 2011 or whether the dreaded whitewash may be on the cards. I don't really think so, England have finally strung together some cohesive cricket this test and looked like they can dominate parts of tests.

You really, truly have to put the blowtorch on the parties involved who gave them no warmup games and turned down extra practice games in between tests. Utterly shambolic preparation that smacked of contemptuous arrogance that has cost England in each of the first 3 tests. Now the Ashes are gone until 2027 with 2 tests back to back to go play to demonstrate just how much better they could've been if they'd strung together some centre wicket match practice instead of f***ed off on holidays. I'm not even an English supporter and I'm genuinely aggrieved by that.
The expectations in English cricket are criminally and disgracefully low. The media reaction will be just how good they were today. Bollocks. They're once again 3-0 down after three tests in Australia. The ECB is awash with money. It's embarrassing. If Australia were 3-0 down after three in England having prepared so poorly then there'd be a government inquiry rightly so.

I do think England has some really talented young players. That's atleast a positive. Also I know everyone has been critical of Jofra but he's one of the players that did well I thought. Bowled well given the pitch and batted well in the first innings. But a lot for England to review on their game plans

I mean no one ever wants a player to be injured, especially for an extended period, but Nathan 'GOAT' Lyon being out for at least two dead rubber Tests (thank you England) gives us a chance to try something different. Personally think Todd Murphy should get the gig but happy for any other full time spinner to show us what he can do.

Also not a coincidence that England were most threatening when they put away Bazball. So hopefully RIP Bazball and good riddance to that shit.
They were also only threatening on a road of a pitch. If there's any life or bounce in the Melbourne pitch then they're likely toast again. This was definitely the ground that suited them best and they couldn't get the job done.

Yes I think now is the certainly the time to be moping around.

Seriously, yes England bats played bad shots. So did the Aussie batters. In the end we batted better and bowled better for longer. We’ve done it without Smudge, Haze, Gaz and Pat.

Yes but they have lost it more than we have won it.
My worry is green has stalled (Webster needs to come back but im not sure if he is good enough). The bowling is still too reliant on starc. Lyon is probably at the end and we have no test quality spinner coming through.
Head and smith are holding the batting together. Smith doesnt have long to go and as good as head has been him opening is unlikely to work long term on moving pitches (i doubt weatherald is good enough either). Hazelwood at his age and with his injuries wont have long to go (same as lyon) boland is a gun but pushing 36. Cummins fitness is suspect and tactically hes no good (this will be even further exposed when smith goes). We will be turning over at least half our team in the next 2 years and we dont have the quality of replacements especially in openers and batsmen (bowling we do have some options coming through even if Richardson and a few others are inexperienced or suspect fitness wise) coming through. India in particular and probably even SA have much better quality coming through their junior ranks than we do.

Ill enjoy it while it lasts but it wont last long.
