I can see them winning in Melbourne. It's a slower pitch which should suit them and no Lyon neutralises their poor spinning and id expect starc wont play (he looks exhausted).

Starc has a few days off if anyone doesn’t might be Cummins. Probably one plays Mel and one plays Sydney.

Kuhnemann had one particularly good test. I have seen enough of him at FC level to tell you he doesnt spin the ball enough and isnt test quality.

The Poms pick no recognised spinner, their top order batsmen are dumb (Brook) and they left it way too late to show some grit in the middle (well done to Smith, Jacks and Carse)
Australia have won the series decimated by injuries and illness and now they can add Lyon to that list.

The expectations in English cricket are criminally and disgracefully low. The media reaction will be just how good they were today. Bollocks. They're once again 3-0 down after three tests in Australia. The ECB is awash with money. It's embarrassing. If Australia were 3-0 down after three in England having prepared so poorly then there'd be a government inquiry rightly so.

More concerned in T20 and the hundred. No proper preparation for an Ashes series and they wonder why.
Australia were lucky in 2023, WTC in English condition helped us enormously.

For the other spinners its better not to play them so that we can keep up the pretence they might be a post Lyon answer, rather than play them and remove all doubt that they are not good enough.

Sydney different but people have to remember the Syd pitch is not the same as the one in the 1980’s turning square. Quicks get heaps of wickets there

If there's any takeaway from this test it's the importance of playing a specialist spinner, so think Murphy comes in. Has bowled well in the shield games i've seen this year
