A few people have mentioned Darcy is out, but the club says he's supposed to be back for the Mandurah match-up. Our medicos do like to, uh, lie to all of us about return times, so grain of salt.

Tbf the club said he should be back for the intraclub but if not would def be back for the match sim. I’d be very surprised if he played the crows. It’s the typical Darcy messaging they always role out to try and minimise the backlash of the contract.

Just heard Garlick say Brennan Cox won't play vs Adelaide because of a calf strain. Said he didn't know yet how serious it is.

Honestly reckon it’s because they were set to play OR and didn’t last year. Had blue balls to play footy so that extra week off had them extra pumped. So I just hope no more cyclones
Possibly but surely we should be just as up for it as they are.

Last year our issue was first quarters - so many times we found our way back into games after having crap starts.

I’ll be very interested to know whether they’ve worked on that this off season. If the first scratch match is a guide, maybe not…

Cox out for round 1? Pre season was too good to be true.

McDonald or Draper to take his spot ?

I'd say he is almost certainly out. I wonder if neither McDonald/Draper play. Pearce v Neale and Chapman v Cameron (if Cameron is even fit). I guess Geelong could throw Stanley or Blicavs forward and we'd want a genuine KPD.

We have Melbourne and Richmond at Optus in Round 2 and 3. If we can't beat them without Cox we should forfeit the season.

Adelaide Rd 4 will be the one we want him back for.

Good to hear about McVee because I thought he was a bit off the pace on Saturday morning. Perhaps he is focusing on defending first at the moment. Hard to see his defensive efforts. Would like to see more offensive kicks from defence.
He probably couldn't get near it as Walker just about intercepted and rebounded everything in that first half :). I thought much the same though.

His improvement over the last 3 weeks has been significant, I don’t think the estimate is far off.

I will stake my claim right now and say that if we end up winning a flag and having our golden era: Josh Treacy will be the single most important factor in that coming to fruition. Yes there's a great culture brought by many of our current leaders like Serong and Brayshaw but nobody has brought a stronger emphasis to extra-curricular skills and fitness work in our culture than Treacy. Founder of the Voss academy (and, wisely naming it after the larrikin rather than himself), the stuff you see coming out about how he throws himself into his work and brings the others around with him is absolutely incredible.

Smart cookie too.
Future captain for me! But it will obviously go to either Serong or Brayshaw

Teams will start tagging Murphy this year. He’s way more damaging than Brayshaw and Serong. I’d say on par with young
Not usually a betting man but that’s why I think Serong is a huge chance for the Brownlow! He’ll probably get a few early tags but if Young and Murphy play all year and are up and about teams will put a lot more attention into them than Caleb

They will also steal votes off him too when the tag fails.

Mitch Edwards has been having a decent preseason for them and I expect them to get games into him this year.

Have to have like for like.
Geelong will select Stanley and Blicavs and exploit Cox not playing. McDonald for me is the safe option.
