Howdy folks, I come in peace with a Fantasy related question.

It's that time of year again where I swear the FWD rookies are useless like every season, but I've heard some whispers about Brayden Cook as being one to watch.

What would his role be? Has he really been earmarked for HB as rumoured?
Does he have any job security? Or would 1 bad game get him dropped?

Thanks!

Low job security. Also despite training as a HBF, has mainly played on the wing in pre season which seems to be more a structural role rather than a ball winning role for Adelaide of late.

First one dropped. We've see this movie before. He's a good mover with above average skills but zero instinct for the game, which he came to relatively late. Every Crows supporter would love him to break through finally but confidence on that is rock bottom.

I think this is what it is supposed to look like..

Agreed, and I hope that’s how it goes come the season proper when the pressure of 4 points and returning to finals is around. My concern is that we don’t have the players that can execute regularly and also lack the vision required. Add a Bigman note that we overdid it at times if an option wasn’t there and the confidence is low.

I certainly understand what we’re trying to do, I just don’t think we have the skill set and it only takes a bit of defensive mindset creep in and we’ll be watching multiple lateral kicks whilst the oppo just roll their zone side to side.

But it’s all conjecture, we’ll start finding out this week.

I still think bigman's words were misinterpreted. I thought he said they kick short until something opens up or until they get around halfway and then they go fast, as opposed to last year when they tried to go down the line and failed horribly.

The question is whether they have the talent to do this.

No, we all interpreted that correctly. He also posted that they overdid it at times with respect to only kicking to a free player. That’s the bit you’re not taking into account. That’s the risk, when a player looks up and isn’t happy with what’s on offer, do they hold and then go sideways and then we repeat that again. That’s what kills us, when we go fast we’re fine, but I can’t see us going fast if we’re also trying to be precise.

Time will tell though.

zero instinct for the game - Yeah that's a major concern for a bloke who is supposed to be a distributor off halfback/wing

Thanks very much for the insight.

I don't think that's true. I am confident he'll get a block of early games and we'll see how he goes from there.
We're all hoping for success, he is an excellent kick.

How does anyone find out when and where we train? bigman ?

Simply by chance

Turing up to West Lakes about 10 am most Monday, Wednesday and Thursday

I just thinking but Sunday would ne filled will recovery and probably an individual indoor session. Hydration, physio and massage would be the key session
Monday would be a light morning session to get the body moving and start thinking about next week
I’m just assuming Tuesday would be their day off
Wednesday would me main session. Starting around 10 am to 12 pm.
Thursday is a mixed session. Possibly at night and at the Adelaide Oval is we play at home that week. Could be 5:30pm to 7:30
Friday is a captain run. About an hour. Starting around 10:30 am, maybe 11 ish.

This is nothing official. Just want I’ve heard and picked up over the years. Traditionally the crows don’t advertise training times.

Zero instinct for the game???

It gets trickier to know once the season starts.

The main session is tomorrow but I’m not sure what time. Usually it’s around 9am but because Saturday is a night game, they may push it back to simulate game day. I honestly have no clue, but I’ll be there regardless given it should give a big indication as to selection.

Disagree. Sees the game better than most. His trouble has been going missing too much, defensive efforts, and general competitiveness. All of which he appears to have made progress on. When he has the ball he’s great. Half back is a great spot for him
He didn’t come late to the game iirc, he was late to SANFL juniors and state junior pathways. He’s not Cat B.

All that said, for fantasy he’s vulnerable because our coaches love a senior player and a very very settled 23.

From training today

Cook, Bond, Ibis all in A team. Peatling set to play. Looks like it will be two out of ah Chee, Soligo, jones and Nankervis.

Puff piece talking about IBIS playing with his brother earlier this week suggested he was in.

Hopefully we lay Bond as a midfielder not as a defender. Carrying Bond, Murray and Butts makes us very slow defensive in the back half.

But then people complain that we are slow through the midfield with pearling, Dawson etc.
I would say he is slow when compared to the kpd’s

After watching Sydney I have no doubt we lace pace all over the ground and with all the injuries we had in the offseason playing the older slower Collingwood team first to ease us into the true pace of the game will help us

He is slow in terms of ball movement. Based off preseason Bond deserves a game but unfortunately for him Murray and Butts are locked into our defence, and our ball movement from D50 was already our biggest issue.
