ANSWER:

As images in PMs are not private - they are stored like any other image on the site, meaning anyone could see them with little effort - this option is not available in PMs.

You can copy in links to images on the web, imgur or other image storage sites though.

As it stands you cannot copy and paste a photo into a PM message was my understanding
