The same people who push the gender denial barrow also push for equal numbers of women in parliament,I have no problem one way or the other but you can't hold both views simultaneously.

You would think so but Im not sure that holds water. A lot of hypocritical opinions out there. Anyway.. I dont want to go down the path of making the comp a tool for social engineering because I agree with some things that would certainly make me a leftie in the USA and probably a capitalist pig in some Communist state (cuba?)
Basically I think we are better as a community of if all are allowed to do what they want to do within the realms of the law and as long as it doesnt injure others... We live in an age where too many feel its a personal insult if other hold different ideas or opinions where as the last thing I want to do is live in a 1984 society.. embrace the difference. The afl is better for having the big and the small teams etc...what a shame that Fitzroy is no longer a part of that ..but thats another story.

Gee...better stop girls playing netball then...a game with a massive preponderance of knee trauma....

Better stop them cooking too....kitchens are way too dangerous....

Why worry about expensive knee injuries being 5-10 times more likely than the men?

"Torn ACL injuries increased from 4.31 per 1000 hours in 2017 to 6.47 this year. By comparison, there were only 0.7 ACL injuries per 1000 player hours in the AFL in 2017."

"The rate of injury for netballers is 14 injuries per 1,000 hours played."

"25% of major injuries in netball are ACLs"

unfortunately couldn't find how many per 1000 but 14 injuries per 1000 counts for all injuries, id assume there would be many more minor injuries than major ones

"Ankle, wrist, hand, finger and knee injuries occur frequently.
The most common types of injuries are sprains, bruising, fractures and dislocations."

based on that data 70%/30% minor to major injury split(its probably 90%/10%) has it at 1.05 per 1000 (30% times 25% times 14)

so being extremely generous females are 6 times more likely to do an ACL playing AFLW over netball which is already high risk

nothing to see here folks

One game last season Cam from 3 kickins from behinds seen the ball sail back over his head for goals, twice he kicked it short to opposition players the third time he played safe and kicked it out of bounce on the full 15mrs around from goal.He tends to only kick it 20mtrs these days anyway. No thank you down back, and he's running out of options.

Still prefer the ball in his hands than Bews. :$

There you go. Can't argue with that. (Although I'm sure plenty will.)
What can you do though. If they want to play...
I don't care about the money. We're meant to be about the community and all that.
Its good we are finally spending money on it and using the stadium.
Let's hope they keep everything free.
A large percentage of GWS's (mens) tickets are free, and we got a bigger crowd than them yesterday.

Are we likely to have anyone playing out of position again this year? I'm a little over players being labelled 'swingmen' and therefore moved to positions they don't play as well in desperation.

But the reality is they are vastly different. One is fully professional and accordingly, extremely well paid. One isn't. To infer that they're equal is insane.

Is it only 20 years since full professionalism? I remember well Couchy doing his early morning runs and then selling cars!!

Watched the other night a game from 81 and boy was it difficult to watch. It’s changed dramatically and essentially it’s just a different game. Really enjoyed it last night. Sure it was social but you couldn’t help but get caught up in the excitement.

Danger has to play forward ...

Would there even be women's afl teams without the potential money involved?
(And the opportunity for a little fame.) Started at the artificial grassroots to synthetically 'grow' it to today.

Fake news fake franchise fake game.

ie An AFL marketing innovation, (profit) expansion, nothing more. How long before the whining of carrying of lifelong injuries whocuddanodes role up. Who shall members thank for the legal bill.

When insurance refuse to back this marketing synthetic fake, its game over girls. Or rules changes turn it into 'netball by foot'.

Are you all there mate?

It's like the chicken and the egg....

Mids are needed to pump the ball forward......but it's wasted if u don't have the forwards to convert

Chicken and the egg ...still haven't worked that one out. I think what came before the egg was probably not a chicken.. anyway..
I have said it before I want the young guys to be given more key roles.. not just put forward and back of centre. Danger will spend a certain amount on ball no doubt as will Joel.. its also true I cant see a whole lot of better known options forward of centre. Rohan? Mmmm we will see. Sav .. it could take another 12 months to get back to where he was. Hawkins is the reliable forward and we cant ask him to be supported by guys still in nappies.

How much revenue does a crowd of 18k bring to our club?

I watched last night as plenty of people tucked in to food and drinks as they enjoyed the game. Does the club pocket those profits or the trust?

Obviously no gate receipts , but viewers near us had plenty of ladies merch on board too. There will be other gains for the club as well I suspect.

Subsidised maybe but GFC may be better placed than others to garner a return. Pity only 3 of 7 games are at.home (if I read the fixture correctly). ......... That doesn't surprise me!

Hopefully they can bleed some of the support into VFLW games at home..and 3 home games is not a lot. Its a good point about the addendum income

No he doesn't. Play him in the middle. It's time that we developed some younger forwards and give them some more responsibility.

Exactly. He's one of the best midfielders in the competition, and that was why he was recruited. He's not close to being one of the best forwards, and last year opposition teams weren't caught out. The occasional rest sure, but his best work is in midfield. By far.

He is needed everywhere but we are weaker forward of the centre. Its the Robbie Flower thing from that pov..add that I want the young guys to spend far more time in the middle and it seems that he should be playing forward of centre. Where he played when recruited or what he was recruited for is separate for mine ... just like we recruited Ottens to be a forward.
Its probably all arbitory anyway as I suspect ypu will get your way.. and we will continue down the path of relying on older guys in the middle and then not giving the young players enough time and trust to develop a new group.

It's not about getting my way. It's the evidence of how he performs as a forward. He's had two great games there - the Hawthorn game from 2017 where he kicked 5.6, and the final against Sydney when he kicked 4. Problem is opposition teams aren't leaving half backs or midfielders on him anymore, he's now getting key defenders. While he's a great mark for his size, he's not going to outbustle guys taller and heavier than him. He had tons of time up forward in 2018 but only managed 24 goals for the entire season.

Would rather Danger in the middle than Ablett, at least Danger burrows in and gets the ball and has speed to burst through packs where Ablett is a one paced receiver who we can easily replace.
