Antony Green will call it way before WA closes.
He really annoys me for some reason.

Green will call it, as will his equivalents on the commercial networks.

Bill & Bozo won't be making any public appearances, or making any phone calls to each other, until after WA closes.

By convention they never claim victory or concede defeat until after the polls have closed in WA, even if the result is plain for all to see long before that time. Conceding/Claiming before then would be seen as being disrespectful to the WA voters.

Fair enough too

if not for WA, Collingwood could be reigning premiers

'' and the booths have just closed in WA and I am now calling it a victory for the ALP by xx seats''

And the electorate in WA would be wondering, ‘why did we ever bother to vote, if the results are already decided in the eastern states?’

Do people in the WA electorate see how it’s going ‘over here’ before voting?

In a close contest, might be better to have a government member

Daylight Savings ends on 7th April, so there will only be a 2 hour time difference between WA and the states on the east coast (assuming a May 18 election).

Polls close at 6pm, and it usually takes around 45-60 minutes for the first results to start trickling into the AEC computer system. 6pm WA time = 8pm AEST, by which time the eastern counts should be at roughly 10%, enough to give an idea of any large swings which may be happening.

WA Voters who wait until the last minute (after 5:30pm) could have a decent picture of how the eastern vote has gone. Most voters will have cast their votes long before that time.

The election booths on election night in WA closes at 6pm (WA time)/8:30pm (SA/NT), 9:00pm (VIC/NSW/ACT/Tasmania/Queensland), which means that the results in WA will count for very little in the end, because Scott Morrison would’ve already conceded defeat.

It will probably be called before polls close in sa/nt barring a massive alp screw up (unlikely given shortens good leadership to date) and the libs actually coming up with a climate change.policy

Not really good leadership, more like gaffe-free leadership with no challengers at all (apart from what The Australian and Rupert Murdoch occasionally try to drum up in a desperate attempt to save the government). Has zero charisma and the average voter struggles with the perception of him as a future PM.

Explains why the 2PP is consistently favourable to the ALP but the preferred PM always sees Shorten lagging behind.

Watch him in one of his town hall meetings, he actually is quite natural and a reasonable orator. As soon as he is scripted and needs to stick to talking points he does become quite wooden. But I wouldn't discount his leadership, keeping gaffe frestill requires keeping the troops in line, and putting out significant policies to be scrutinised for months does open them up to possible issues but he has stesdied the ship and is well on the way to the lodge. Honestly, given the current media climate and constant hounding by the likes of Sky and news corp, Shorten has shown himself to be an excellent leader in opposition.

I'm sick of the roads and commercial vehicles. These companies can build a private airport and figure out their own shit for all I care.

If we wiped all the trucks off our roads now we'd be fine. And that's the problem. Tax payer is paying for their transport. Tax payer should be paying for the tax payers transport and no one elses. All these billion dollar transport projects are because of billion dollar companies and their trucks.

That's not a justification to be subsidized by the taxpayer. Company makes billions and leans on the taxpayer to build their roads. Anything anywhere the taxpayer is passed the buck and gets ****ed over! Tax payers don't see little blips or unexpected bonuses in their lifetimes. Their wealth is sucked out of them by companies always. I think Rudds stimulus was literally the only thing!

I catch fish from my local creek anyway, and am recently broadening my horizons to Westerport Bay.

What about the mum and dad truck operators with only one or two rigs?
Not everyone is Lindsay Fox.

Only if they're calling it based on exit polls. SA & NT are only 30 minutes behind the eastern states. It's usually only a limited number of very small booths which are able to report in that time.

This is the second thread you've polluted with this rubbish. What possible relevance does your dislike of the trucking industry have with the upcoming Federal Election?

This is idiotic.

Get rid of trucks, great. How to you get produce from the country to the suburbs? How do you get goods from ports to warehouses? Drones? Magic carpets?

Also passenger vehicles are a much bigger issue, and a much bigger reason for our extensive road infrastructure.

You're solution would take us back to the 1800s, and introduce foot riots and death to our cities

Uniting the party around him over the last 6 years, with them now visibly loyal, and disciplined, specially considering the rabble that Labor had become, is certainly in my definition of good leadership.

As long as they're off the road I'm happy. They should just simply be restricted to the 2 left lanes and pay tonnes more reg. I just drove to Coburg from Berwick today and the amount of trucks was astounding. The amount of companies freeloading off the taxpayer and ripping up their roads is ridiculous. They need to cover all expenses for their spot on the road.

Their truck driving lobbyists were just busted for a major deceit. I should've known these good for nothing individuals were staunchly conservative and probably most of them hick nats. Will be robots driving trucks soon anyway. Then they can cry and all vote greens for the dole

1) if they are not on the road how do you propose goods be transported?

2) it's not a free ride. They pay taxes on fuel and they also pay much higher reg fees than non commercial vehicles

Your idea is idiotic, and would destroy this country

Fair few would be Pauline fans ,most of the ones Ive met are.

It would be a great move to get more freight on rail,we dont use boats either, lots of empty boats dumping their Chinese goods in Sydney, Melbourne heading back up the coast fairly empty.
You would still need trucks to get to shops and wharehouses but it could be greatly reduced.
Robotics will be great for safety, its just a waiting game ,it will happen.
