With the carryon getting even worse, it is time a stand was made and Eddie launches legal action against the Swans and other parties. He should easily get a few million and shut down this nonsense. No reasonable person would consider his words as being about the lady in question in particular or her disability.

Sydney SJW's now 'demanding AFL act'. Presumably they want the AFL to intervene and tell Fox Footy who to employ as their commentator. And the Swans want the AFL to tell Collingwood who their president should be.

This really is turning into a comedy.

And that is irrelevant to tossing s coin which requires on hand.
Did you miss the statement I was responding to? Go back and read it to understand context.

Nonsensical tripe. Honest and easy mistake to make. Just another example of confected outrage from the permanently outraged. The precious Swans and their precious supporters are always on auto pilot to get outraged at even the most innocuous Eddie comment.

Most others with a modicum of commonsense would analyse the situation for what it was, accept the apology, and move on. I suppose though, it’s an Eddie sent opportunity to deflect, particularly after the Swans underwhelming start to the season.

Partisan tosspottery.

Sydney and Pridham have an axe to grind after Eddie (quite rightly) called out the COLA allowance and questioned their access to priority picks from academy.

This is not the first time (and won't be the last, I'd imagine) Brandon Jack (who??) has hitched his wagon to the SJW issue of the day.

It's quite simple- if Eddie knew Cynthia Banham's background and chose to make these comments- then it's unacceptable.

I tend to believe he had no idea who the person was (I mean, whoever really does? It's usually a kid or some corporate) and thus the comments were are only upsetting, if someone chooses to take them out of context.

PS- Eddie is a fair dickhead, yet in this circumstance I can't see he's done anything wrong

YTep, i'm no McGuire fan. I just don't like the whole media beat down thing.

He would have said the same thing about anyone. This has nothing to do with the woman or her condition. Nothing he even said attacked or referenced that at all.

He was talking about a coin toss and that practice from fans in general. Let it go, hes being crucified for nothing.

Nah for me. I mean come on, the “victim” here survived a plane crash, overcame burns to 60% of her body and earned a PhD; let’s not disempower her by suggesting she should somehow be treated differently simply because she’s a woman with no legs. If she throws a shit coin toss, so be it. Why censor recognition of facts?

Partisan tosspottery.
Maybe a little bit partisan. And your comments aren’t partisan? However the vast majority of posters on BF and the wider public agree with me. They recognise this nonsense as just another example of manufactured tripe from the sanctimonious Swans and their sanctimonious supporters.

You guys are so triggered with hate for Eddie that you have a total inability to analyse rationally anything he says or does. Doesn’t do your credibility any good when you constantly behave in this manner. No wonder people don’t take you seriously.

Even got a poll on your board “ Which club do you hate the most?”. Eddie is one of the 18 options, and is winning hands down. Talk about obsessed.

The Insiders panel now ripping into Eddie. They suggest it's blokey culture to blame.

Who would have thought that a sport in which for 100 of the last 110 years all players, 99% of club officials, 90% of media and the overwhelming majority of members/supporters being male would have fostered a 'blokey culture'. Shame on us men.

Perhaps there should be an investigation into how child-care centres, primary schools, netball clubs and knitting societies have a 'feminine culture'.

Nah. Not really. McGuire didn't commit a grievous offence but I expect he would be delighted by the amount of attention he is now getting.
well, it is quite ironic that someone calling out another for partisan tosspottery, is quite the tosspotting partisan themselves?

Or is deflection a common Sydney trait?

This is why The Footy Show's ratings more than halved. It's so Politically Correct and bland. I'm no fan of Sam Newman, but they've swung from one extreme to the other. It's like the Mormons are in charge now. Next we'll be demanding footy players, officials, and media that sex isn't allowed before marriage, and ASADA will conduct random virginity tests. That's where we're heading and it's time for everyone to lighten the f*** up.

Eddie had no idea who Cynthia was. He found out almost immediately after he made the comments, and he APOLOGISED on air. End of story.

This sums it all up for me:

LOL!

Launch legal action on what grounds? What laws have they broken?

This saga just gets more stupid by the minute.

Oh dear. My points in essence were-

1 McGuire is a bore
2 He would be enjoying the attention
3 He did not commit a grievous offence

The partisan tosspottery comment was directed not at the poster concerned but the broader class of those who automatically leap to the defence of their Club at any perceived slight.

This is toxic masculinity 101, the poor victim is a helpless oppressed women and eddie is savaging bullying her because he is a man.

Men are such pigs

The headlines are awful...

"Eddie mocks double-amputee"

"Eddie MacGuire mocks plane crash survivor"

Criticising the coin toss is the same as mocking her disability??? FFS

So if it’s not a grievous offence, why the carry on condemning him?
Who is driving the carry on, and are they in any way partisan?

Remember the guy who used to shake tins requesting footy spectators “support terminally ill kids?” Fake charity collector who barely got a mention in the press. Make a passing comment about the coin toss though and they’ll call for a Royal Commission in to disability discrimination.
