I don't post often. But I have had a beer or 2. On the tram home took a look at the final teams. And WTAF. How can those be the changes! How can we just go, business as usual! I have not been on the Brad bandwagon since year 3. And I have no idea why he got an extension. I have followed this club all my life. I don't even remember making the decision to follow North. And I can't stand how irrelevant we are. I am actually begging the media to turn up the heat. But they don't even have enough interest to do that. We are nothing until this clown is done and someone comes along to make us relevant again!

People keep repeating 21 or 22 wins from 60 games so i counted back 60 games.

In the 22 games before that 60 point game (so to 60 - 82 games ago) we won 19 games and lost 3.

Then we had a complete list turn around or very close to it.

We've had what people would consider a "rebuilt list" for only 2 games really. The people we thought could do the job last year are gone. De listed.

After we won 19 of 22 games we then won 9 of 36 games. In the season since then we won 12 games last year, (with a list we culled hard again). We won most of those 22 games last year. It was something like 10 out of 40 before that. So like it or not he's improved significantly in one season since we "bottomed out" as much as we have done in years.

Using those numbers makes it sound worse than it is. Its verging on propaganda.



No doubt you're all rapt to read that so here's my position

If Scott doesn't improve on his career w/l ratio significantly for this year he shouldn't be re-signed (obviously, unless we play in a GF the next year i spose.)

Which means we need to win 13 or 14 games this year (from here.) At least. That's my position fwiw. I think we can all agree he's got the cattle and the core group to play a few finals this year.

Its ridiculous to even consider sacking the coach now. Week 3 after two years of list turnover like we've had. After the Carlton game we will know whether or not he's got it working with these new players.

If you want what i think is a fair result to say he's working it out we'd have to win ... probably four of the next five games and be gathering some momentum.

Say what you want about JYD he did the honorable thing when the writing was on the wall.
The issue is the club hierarchy weren’t ballsy enough to make the move.
It is why we are in this current mess and are more than happy just to coast through the years.
JYD had two goes at it. Resigned before the 3rd.
The club needs to show some backbone for the first time since it sacked Schimma in 93.
The results could define this group.

Sorry missing your post Micky, the short answer is no, one example being Garry Lyon picked us to finish last in 2018 and the club has reminded him of this.

Firstly I like being silly! Secondly our list is a mess due to finishing in no mans land repeatedly. Thirdly Brad won't coach a premiership side unless he's gifted the best list in town. He's lacks innovation, the ability to think on his feet. It would fall entirely to the players, Brad still believes statistics will get you the four points.

He should not pass Barassi and Pagan as our longest serving coaches, if he does that's criminal. If he gets a contract extension, we might as well lock the bloody gates.

He's had long enough now and hasn't gotten us anywhere, I doubt there's any other club that would continually recommit to a coach who has delivered zero and who's 'best' players are closing in on retirement age. Let's take a step into June 2020....

I reckon we have an administration that's lost sight of it's main objective.

Winning games, winning premierships.

They are so out of touch with the supporter base, so far removed from the people, they literally have no idea of the angst & the disillusionment of their loyal core.

I'll be blunt and say that it's hard to get enthused, to feel connected to an organisation that looks like it's lost its soul.

My thoughts are like all clubs we retired players that had reached retirement age. Dal Santo, Petrie, Harvey, Wells, Swallow, Gibson & Waite. Then we delisted guys that we weren't playing like Mullet, Mountford, Hibberd, Neilson, Wagner and co.

Nothing dramatic in anything we did and it cannot be a surprise when a bloke turns 34 ala Dal and gets retired, not really a 'brave decision' more poor player management that we didn't have anyone ready to step into the breach.

Dramatically compared to who? Do a search, I compared our list turnover to Richmond and they were the same. I gave you Geelong as an example of introducing new players into the team.

There has been a turnover since 2016 I suppose one issue I have is the ad hoc nature of list building and management there does not appear to be a coherent strategy in place. The only plan that made sense has been the hunt for marquee players over the past few seasons. Whether you agreed with that strategy or not at least we could understand what the intention is. And look where that has left us? Reflecting on this approach I can't help but wonder if those marqueeplayers and their management had far greater insight into BS and his abilities andour club andwhere we are at than most of us. They spoke with their feet and walked away. So do we have a list now capable of pushing us into the top 4? I don't know. I am sure however that BS is not the coach who will get them there.
