Port showing the difference between merely selecting young players - and trusting them.

There is a lot to like about making the last 3 or four players picked in your team, non negotiable 1st or second year players...on top of those who earn their spot

Classic we’ve got a 200 gamer in that position for the last 5 years

Rozee would have been running around Glenelg Oval Friday Night, no way he would be given the opportunity under Campo and co.

And yet we are Playing Jones in the same position. and when you consider it would have been Rozee for Jones .
I would say if We selected Rozee he would have Played.

Watching the brisbane v port match of the day on fox. Great game and pretty spiteful. Brisbane will make the top 8 and possibly top 4. They will smash us this year. Connor Rozee is a gun. Power targeted who they wanted and got their man. We sit back and take what falls our way. There is a difference. Happy we got Jones but would have liked the other 3 picks on the field helping us out this year.

Yep and Geelong had Campaignerstable, Atkins, Miers, Clark the other night.

We’re not fans of young talent time.

It shits me. Not willing to get the games in, let them make mistakes.

If you were a young gun player would you want to come to the crows? I wouldn't. You would be going to a club where you have the least amount of chance of playing in your first year

As someone posted when do the club every drop players to make a statement?

Over recent years we’ve dropped:

Jenkins once after stinking for 4-6 weeks
Atkins once after stinking for 4-6 weeks
Mackay once annually after stinking for 4-6 weeks

It’s about time one of these players were called pathetic. dropped and we give the rest of the team a wake up call.

Miers and Clark spent last year in the 2nds, Atkins is 23, a mature age rookie. Constable is a 1st round pick, equivalent to Jones.

Not sure the statment holds up.

as others have mentioned we hide our youngsters up forward even if they have never played there before. recent examples: jones, galluci, and poholke.

half back or wing would be a better place for a youngster to learn as they are more involved in the match but we would rather back in the mackays, reillys, doughtys to do the job.

jones needs to get more of the ball playing up the field not hiding in a pocket getting 5 touches a week until we eventually drop him.

They play them in a position where it will be easier to drop them. We set them up to fail instead of helping them to succeed. Young players know this and this is why they leave. We are tight when it comes to talent. Who plays is based on contract size as the club hates to be made to look like the idiots they are. Its all wrong and I'm sick of it.
