I don't think folks are kicking down the door to make him head coach, but he could hardly be worse considering the situation.

However, there's absolutely merit in him coming down once a week to deal with the group, and particularly the forwards.

My strong hunch is that admin are standing in the way, and Brad doesn't want a bigger persona than him wandering around the place either.

Which is cool.

Will it fix the fundamental issues we have?
IMO no.

Of course not, as he's not the head coach.

Will it help? IMO, yes.
Change the culture. A club is its history of people.
We have greats and we should use them.
I met the Duck personally a lot of years ago, I did a talk and had him in stitches. He approached me afterward and had a chat.
I'm not gay but I was in awe of this bloke.
What true North person wouldn't be.
I reckon if he had a bit of one on one time with say Lmac, I'm guessing he would be a positive influence in getting the best out of himself.
Duck is one of many examples of past north greats with true shinboner blood that would benefit the current playing group

"The result left the Kangaroos 17th on the ladder with a 0-3 record for the fourth time in coach Brad Scott’s 10-year reign.
Ominously for them, they didn’t qualify for the finals on any of those three previous occasions."

Well get Stevo back.. I'm happy with either. But until then we need to be mature as a club.

This is a football club not a moral high club.
I always get suspicious of people that don't believe in redemption and continue to judge.
Have you cheated on a partner before? Or ****ed a mates misses?

bloody hell. I didn't realize this is the 4th time we have started 0 and 3. That is deplorable. 40% of Scotts coaching career has got off to a 0-3 start. Has there ever been a coach as bad as him? NO.

I hid a card under the table when playing UNO once.

It's not for me to forgive, its for Stevo and I'm happy to follow his lead.

Geez, Jamie, I think I want my vice-captain to be ******* livid at losing three games and absolutely desperate to win. Not "oh yeah, winning would be nice, I guess"....

Yeah, strange comment

I think I’d need to see this rather than read it to get the context.

He's right. Two weeks ago was a must win. This weekend doesn't matter, we're not making the top 4 from here so its not a must win game. It'd be nice to win, but a favorable result isn't going to help us now. We just need to try and not kick it to the opposition and win some center clearance. Do that and I'll be happy.

Carey has tried coaching and it didn’t go well. Maybe commentating is his go instead. Surprised this point needs to be made, but it’s a fair bit easier to make sensible if kind of obvious comments on tv for five minutes than to develop and implement a strategy, game plan, and player development program at a club.
He worked with Travis Cloke at Collingwood, Tom Hawkins afterward and Jack Riewoldt.
Not gonna argue when all three went on to become champion forwards in premiership teams. Evidence speaks for itself.

He may not be a good full time coach but his one on one skills has been proven as you've pointed out.

I don't care if Stevo's wife decided to sleep with Carey, it was 20 years ago. Move on and ask for his help. Ziebull needs it.

Presumably just not wanting to buy into a panic narrative and put pressure on team mates. I wouldn't read too much into that.
Being desperate to win doesn't necessarily equate to panic. It does equate to doing absolutely everything possible to win your next game of football.

Look, here is the difference between us in the last few years and Geelong. We were one win behind them last year, and in the off-season, their president says of the players: "I'm heartened that they're quite unhappy". And their assistant coach says: "Our guys are highly motivated and they need to be because as we sit right now, we're a mediocre team. We're no longer a top team, we're mediocre."

Can you imagine that coming from our club? Not a chance. Instead we go 0-3 and our vice-captain says this week is not a must-win game. FMD.

That's funny. All we get is "Never Beaten".

Seems everyday there's more evidence of this club going to shit. Change needs to happen NOW.

If GR is coming off the long run, then you know shit is seriously out of whack.

The same reason we don't get pumped up when we are winning. We're a small club with a small profile.

From a media point of view we are insignificant.

We are the Cincinnati Bengals of the AFL:
- Small club with low profile
- Mediocre for two decades, never terrible so we don't get the torch, and never great so the media never pumps us up
- If we make the finals it's only to get blown out in week 1
- Bog average coach that's just about good enough to keep his job but never actually does anything, despite countless opportunities
- Consistently end outside the range where we get good draft picks, but never good enough to actually enjoy the year and feel like we're a flag threat

For non-NFL supporters, being the Bengals is not a compliment...

Do you expect anything more from a bloke who shows no desperation on the field?

I can just imagine it. It would be nice to hit a target, nice to stick a tackle and nice to have a heart bigger than the size of a pea, but not a must.

This is a leader of a football club, no wonder we are ****ed!
