Geez, Jamie, I think I want my vice-captain to be ******* livid at losing three games and absolutely desperate to win. Not "oh yeah, winning would be nice, I guess"....

That's a ******* disgraceful comment given our situation, controlled messaging or otherwise.

Speaks volumes unfortunately.

Excellent comment again.

I don't quite get isolating Brown in the criticisms, as he puts up with putrid delivery and tactics a lot of the time.

I get his limitations, but that goes with his build. He's not a fast twitch type player.

He'd kick 100 in the Collingwood side.

My thoughts exactly, if the coach or leadership group are giving out these type of messages to the playing group then what hope is there.

Presumably just not wanting to buy into a panic narrative and put pressure on team mates. I wouldn't read too much into that.

Buy into the actual words or not.

It's a gross misunderstanding of the situation.

But that's probably to be expected.

When will these blokes discuss the real issue........ Brad “*******” Scott!!!

Are the supporters the only ones who can see the issue here?

It's not as if Brown would put him on show, and Brad's pretty pally with most of the media.

The only people calling him out hard.............are..........coincidentally................North people.

It’s become one big giant joke.

Ben Brown having to bear the brunt for the inadequacies of this team is disgraceful. Duck needs to get his head out of his arse and look at the real problem.

This club is devoid of leadership from the top down. Close enough is good enough and it stinks.

I don’t think I have ever got into the point of boycotting games, but I’m seriously at that stage of not bothering to turn up.

Why should I spend my hard earned and time supporting a coaching / playing group that have no pride in their performance and are happy to just turn up and get paid?

I don’t even have any pride in this club anymore. I can’t even justify to my kids why they should follow this club, which is place I thought I would never reach.

Even at our worst I would show up and support, because we showed something. While we may not have been the best, the Shinboner Spirit was there to see. That spirit is dead, this club is listless and on its current path will be extinct.

I will not support the Tasmanian Kangaroos, which is the path we are heading down.

Wallet about to discuss North on SEN
Listened in. Wallet had two theories, that we played with a chip on our shoulder last year and we can't replicate it again. The second theory was that we have so many new players (mentions 9) that we have no team harmony at this early stage which is causing issues.

Brown is one of our highest paid and currently can't take a one on one mark. That's why he "bears the brunt" from a media perspective.

It is the same template for all other teams.

Have you watched how we deliver the ball to him?

Talking about Brown is only deflecting from the real issue.

Brown will be fine under a better coach and a good forward set up.

Currently he is trying to be the main banana in a dysfunctional forward line.

Brown must be the first player in the AFL to have every single ball kicked to him in an 'un markable' way.

Yes I've watched him, as had everyone else. He's rubbish around the ball at the moment. And as one of our flagship players he needs to up his game.

He had the spotlight when he was good, and now he's getting it when he's shit.

Correct.

There is more issue in lack of support, ball delivery, and confusion as to game style than there is with Brown.

Carey took aim at the wrong target and a bunch of sheep followed.

Less than 3 marks per game, tackles non existent, every single stat bar his 6 goals below average (non exaggerated), two contested mark (yes two), goal accuracy now below 50%...

But sure, you go on and blame 21 other players for Brown's woes.

Averaging 2 goals a game off an interrupted preseason.

If you legitimately think the source of our issues is Ben Brown underperforming I honestly don't know what to tell you.

Is your contention that our 0-3 start is Brown's fault?

It's a lower order issue, absolutely - and I don't blame the other players as much as I do the coaches/selectors for leaving him there getting crap delivery with minimal tall and no small forward support. You know how commentators are always saying "the forward doesn't need to mark it every time, just bring it to ground" - not in our forward line.

Because the best way for the club to be shunted off to Tassie is for people like you to not turn up.

Because the club is bigger than the coach, or the 22 that played last week, or this year's list.

It's hard sometimes, I get it. They frustrate the crap out of us, they drive us mad, they make us want to throw things at the TV, they make us a bit embarrassed to talk about footy, but **** me if they haven't got us by the proverbials.

In this history of the North Melbourne Football Club, this is far from our worst period. The supporters in our first 50 years in the VFL went through a lot worse than we ever have, and God bless them for it. They stuck it out, they put up with supporting a side that were perennial cellar-dwellers. And they did it for us. We owe it to the next generation to stick with them through good times and bad. Not necessarily stick with this group of players or the coach, but the club.

Being a member and turning up is what gives us the right to demand improvement. To demand change. If you don't turn up, or if you only turn up when things are going well, you become the sort bandwagoner anonymous forum poster, whose opinions can be written off by the powers that be. Don't be that guy.

Shut up and buy a membership is one of the running jokes around here. But let's turn it around: buy a membership, turn up, and speak up.
