Here are my thoughts...

I said after the game gibbs is playing shithouse and deserves to be dropped, actually glad they dropped him. His efforts were pathetic.
Poholke and Cey have had a good start to this season in the sanfl. I just dont think they are the right players to replace gibbs and seed.
The balance of the team is already out of wack. Putting 2 slow inside players in the 22 on a fast deck is ludicrous.
They were never going to play fog after his dismal performance playing chb last weekend. But he shouldve already been playing sfl at full forward and jenkins shouldve been in the ruck.
This team is capable of great things but the selection committee has continually crippled it year in year out.
We desperately need another small forward that can kick goals to free up betts, but rely on a kid and a defensive forward to provide us with the answer. Stengle along with fogarty and greenwood is the answer.
I just cant understand what the **** the coaches are doing. Im sure most people on this board agree.
Poholke is not slow!

His composure under pressure and decision making have been his failings in the past.....Those areas have been where he has shown the greatest improvement in the SANFL this season, the question we'll want answered this week is can he translate that improvement to the next level. He deserves the opportunity on his peerless 2019 SANFL form.

EFFORT

I called it straight after the game last week, Bryce played like a player that didn't GAF, it was very plain to the eye.
His disposal by foot was almost cringeworthy....that woeful shot at goal from inside 50 that would have been struggling to cover 30m said it all.
Exactly , he needs this and come back player he should be

Disappointing he’s in this situation and ditto Galluci and Greenwood not being ready

Is anyone really complaining about Gibbs being dropped? It’s the team balance that’s the issue
Was the team balance right last week?

We have
Laird
B Crouch
Smithers
Milera
Atkins
Sloaney

As creative ball movers. Last week we also had Gibbs who had to be moved down back as his effort was deemed poor.

Geelong pushed us aside with physicality because the only real inside player we had was M Crouch. Sloaney is a bit of a hybrid.

Now we have

M Crouch
CEY
Poholke?

We also have the percieved fleet footed tackle pressure of Knights, Eddie, Murphy and Jones. This quarter need to step up as well. Albeit harsh on Jones here.

I would argue we may be better balanced.

I would argue the balance is better.

The post or the poster.

No deal??? Your as weak as a Mackay tackle.

The poster obviously. Since you have exposed me as a Not True Supporter I cannot hope to recover.

Anyway didn't realize this was such a serious forum! Guess I should have just stated the facts, like how that one time we dropped Mackay for form, he was the travelling emergency, then he was brought straight back.

I guess that move was enough of a joke in itself, no need to make fun of that happening again to Gibbs

Gibbs has taken the Lyons role.

Easy to drop.

God we are pathetic.

I'm all for Gibbs getting dropped, just how do you send a message to a player to lift his intensity, ask politely!
Gibbs situation nothing like Lyons. Lyons was a yoyo and should have been valued more, Gibbs has been given a dream ride. Let's hope he turns it around because we paid a high enough price for a bloke who was going to get us over the hump.

Yep, pretty easy to drop a guy who cost us two first round draft picks and two trade periods to procure, not to mention a decent salary.

No one in the media will poke fun at the club for spending so much to get him and then dropping him.

Very easy decision.

Galluci and Greenwood are obvs better choices but not fit

Unfortunately they are a week or more away and we are nowhere near our best side this week - depressing

Gibbs our is a good move he needs to improve some habits , he’s currently not playing the right style of game
I cannot work out that Greenwood not fit as played at least 4-5 practice and SANFL games , so why isn't he fit . You would not call Buddy fit either but still dominating and Greenwood hasn't played too many bad games for us and can lead and mark when forward which drastically missing.

Well isn't that just like Mackay then?
No, Mackay might not be the greatest player, in fact he might be a very ordinary player but I don't think even his biggest critic would ever question his effort. Gibbs last week however had serious questions to answer re his lacksadaisical attitude to the game. Obviously Pyke saw it the same as a lot of us.

Ignoring the Tools and Trolls, if we want to make changes we need two things;

1) Players who deserve to be dropped. We have a bucketload of these.
2) Players who deserve to be promoted. Unfortunately our best three players in the Twos are inside mids.

Defenders
Hartigan, Kelly and Mackay are on thin ice. In the Twos, Otten and Fogarty have been terrible. Butt is not ready, McPherson injured. Sholl and Hamill have each played one good game and look promising.

Outside Midfielders
Mackay and Atkins have each played one good game and two poor games. Gallucci and McHenry have failed to have an impact in the Twos

Inside Mids
Sloane and Brouch great, Mrouch needs to lift, Gibbs poor. CEY, Poholke and Wilson have played well during the preseason and the first two SANFL matches. Seems fair enough to give CEY and Dylan a chance.

Key forwards
Tex and JJ are struggling. Himmelberg is struggling in the Twos, Fogarty was terrible when played as a forward in the preseason.

Medium/ Small Forwards
Murphy, Eddie, Riley and Chayce all need to do more. IMHO Murphy has been the best of them. In the Twos McAdam is injured and Davis and McHenry haven’t screamed pick me. Stengle is close but needs to have a big one this week.

Hopefully THE MIGHTY THOR and Gallucci will play well this week and Stengle will kick a bag.

Mackay's biggest critic checking in!

His effort has never been under question. He always cracks in. Just imagine Rory Atkins with Mackay's endeavor. Would be an elite player

Perhaps because he missed about 10 weeks of the pre-season and was on a modfied program for the rest of the pre-season with an abdominal injury?

For someone that criticises Tools, you sure post like one at times.

You spoil what are generally good posts when you start off posting like a dick.

One has had over 10 seasons and is an all time great , one what as the edge of substandard fitness last year but then didn’t do any pre season

One plays deep forward and one is a mid

One is a freak athlete and the other is an athlete

Anything else ?

He's a good mark too, which is something we're sorely lacking.

I'm not sure where this leaves Gooch, Fog, Greenwood and a few others though. This year is basically a write off for them as well as McAdam.

I feel this is already a wasted year. We're not a top four side, and no one seems to be developing. We're also like a dog chasing its tail on selection night.

I second this.

No problems with Mackay's effort; and I do actually like the bloke...

But this isn't under 12s.

enough with the 'can't question dmacs effort' line.

dmac is a terrible player and should not be in the team. i reckon a dog could provide just as much effort as dmac does, doesn't mean anything if you aren't a good player.
