Past #7: Jack Ziebell [Part II] - retires post-RFC game/280gm&183gl/6yr captain - Shinboner - assaulted post-RFC game& in hospital - get well soon JZ

Good to see his venture back into the midfield lasted 1 week.

Just like the Brisbane game, could have been a lot different had he kicked straight.

And the Hawthorn game.

But yeah, I was worried that stubborn Brad would keep Jack in the midfield. To his credit, he didn't. When the midfield is functioning well, Jack is an absolute weapon in the forward line.

It makes the “I think ziebell’s an inside midfielder” comment more absurd. I’m not a Scott fan and I usually pay no notice of post game conferences, but why would he make a statement like that and then back track a week later? He stands nothing to gain apart from being proven wrong. I thought he’d give him another crack, but thank goodness he didn’t.

if I was a coach I'd talk all sorts of shit like that all the time. Heaps of disinformation just to **** with the opposition.

Time for this pretender to give away the captaincy. ****ing uninspiring, limp. 4 disposals he’s had to 3QT. Inspid. He needs to say something to the paying members with a matter of urgency.

I like Ziebell, seems a good bloke. A cool dude to play footy with, have a beer with.

But Luke Hodge he is not.

This team needs a leader who is willing to do the tough stuff, even be a bad guy is if the occasion requires it.

Ziebell can't.

If he went to Hawthorn, he probably could have been that player. But not under the development of Scotts.

20 years ago, a Ziebell type could have been a Kernahan.

In the modern game, there is no role for him...

...unless the team is dominating the midfield and kicks it lace out...

...and there are three genuine small in the forward line to compensate for his lack of pace.

Our team can't afford him. On field.

This has been obvious for a while now. At least one season, perhaps as many as four or five seasons.

Sans Scotts but is it possible to drop an AFL captain? In desperate need of a run or a breather
Stand by this comment two weeks later

It’s a really bad sign when your captain is one of your most uninspiring players in the best 22

He looks completely out of sorts and he is not the only one

Sadly our captain resembles Bruce Monteath in September 1980. He's starting to move like an old man at age 28 with his off season injury problems. But he's also not helped by Scott's insistence to play a top heavy forward line with 5 guys above 188cm and the resting ruckman looking like our best crumber.

Hell for a NMFC supporter is watching this man trying his hardest only to trail 5 metres behind Dylan Shiel who has broken into a light jog.

Love Ziebs' heart, but I'm not sure where his place is in this footy side. He's either going to end up a Hodge type general (but lose the hack out of the pack crap) or he's going to need to play as the third, not the second tall in the forward line.

Plays football like a government bureaucrat these days.

He's a safe careerist with his sights set on little more than riding this horse all the way to the finish line.

He's NOTHING like the footballer that showed up at Arden Street.

Where's your ****ing HEART!

We coached that shit right out of him.

And of many others.

It's depressing.

There was a time when opposition players were genuinely in fear whenever Ziebell was around the contest and within closing distance. Today, I actually saw Dylan Shiel look back, see that it was Jack who was within arms reach, and just jog away with the footy with contempt for his opponent.

As slow as he is, he actually in his first few years also showed a pretty good 5m burst speed from the clearance. He's just not attacking the contest anymore, and he's not the only one. In fact, I'd go as far as to say Jed is the only one who is. This pattern of development has to come from somewhere. It's list-wide, and the coach should be the first port-of-call for investigation.

This campaigner can dead set go and get ****ed!

............and I tell you what Jack, you can send me a P.M. to show up at Arden Street to jump in the ring with you, and I will show up so you can punch 1000 shades of shit out of me, and I won't be pissed off when I come out of hospital, instead I will congratulate you, BECAUSE AT LEAST THEN YOU STOOD UP, ****ING FOUGHT, AND DID SOMETHING YOU ****ING IMPOSTOR!

You are the least inspirational captain in the AFL, by a long, long, long way. Fact!
