I was at the game and only saw it after he was on the ground. He didn’t look like he was milking it on the ground. Even after it was crystal clear that the umps weren’t going to pay anything he was still in obvious discomfort and unable to get back up immediately. Hawkins was otherwise free in the goal square and would have got a certain goal if the ball was kicked towards him.

But even if we were to concede that he was faking it, he was still clearly illegally hit off the ball. Way worse than any push into the chest of a player facing you and doing the same back.

Ridiculous double standards.

He wasn't faking it. You can see in the video how far his upper right chest pushes out from his body with the force of the elbow. He was momentarily physically deformed by it.

We need more out of Omera to, he has to be more than just a scragging tough midfielder, he needs to be an elite ball winner and our class. By the end of the season I think Worpel could go past him, not a bad thing but I think there’s a lot to come from Worps.

The Nash experiment needs a few weeks off. He's not offering much at the moment and I can't see it helping his confidence.

Lewis was a great inclusion. Loved what I saw halving some contests and repeat efforts on ground balls which led to goals. He stays for mine.

Morrison has had a quiet season, injuries have saved him the trips to Box Hill, but I'd like to see him go out for Shiels.

Big Boy has been immense, hope his hip injury is fine.
Henderson should be in the 40-man AA squad right now.

Good to keep getting games into Worpel and Cousins.

What else would you expect. The media flogs are responsible for aiding the misrepresentation. Why allow facts get in the way of a good story. Sicily is the the ultimate anti hero they all crave.

Very disappointed in the final result but must say considering our outs was proud of the performance.
Individually:
Kaiden Brand was excellent, vastly improved his intercept marking and is a good decision maker with ball in hand with clean and creative disposal. Has improved one on one also.

James Sicily is an absolute superstar who almost looks like he makes time stand still at times with elite disposal and football nous. Proud of the way he has really knuckled down on the job and now seems more mature in terms of being able to deal with antagonist opponents.

David Mirra is unfortunately not up to standard he is slow of mind and slow of body and is just a liability with ball in hand by way of transitioning or simply disposing. VFL is his ceiling and if we have any intention of contending the fairytale ends.

Tom Scully was played out of position today off a half forward flank, he needs to be played on a wing where he can use his strengths, receiving ball on the outside going on a piercing run and delivering a lace out pass inside F50.

James Worpel is a future captain of the club enough said.

Ben McEvoy should be our current captain he is a lion heart through and through and bleeds for the jumper.

Chad Wingard is not fit and it’s clear for all to see, he is a class above most players on the field however needs a bit of time to get used to our system and to build his fitness.

Our supposed next gen leaders from the three peat era were very disappointing. Luke Breust particularly has a habit of going missing when the heat is on and potentially cost us a fair bit of momentum with a bad miss nearing the end of the third.

Jack Gunston is no utility and needs to be played as a stay at home forward, has lost confidence in his shooting for goal and is almost forgetting how to play forward.

Isaac Smith injured or not, very disappointing. Still after nearly a decade in the AFL system cannot lay a tackle, and almost always goes to water when the heat is on for someone who was touted as a captain by some not so long ago needs to lift in a big way.

Harry Morrison I’m beginning to think is not up it at the level. Not big enough, cannot tackle, struggles to get involved, has never been quick but now looks incredibly slow and cannot really see where or how he fits.

This season so far O meara, Worpel, Sicily, Hardwick, Impey, Scrimshaw, Henderson and McEvoy to a lesser extent Roughead can all hold their heads up high. The rest need to lift to give us a chance of playing finals. Plenary of upside overall at the hawks.

That's our problem right now. With Mitchell and Shiels out JOM has to be our scragging tough midfielder, rather than the rolls royce he is supposed to be.

He's being forced into being the #1 ballwinner when ideally he should be #3 or even #4.

He's doing a ruddy good job at it too. Kicking goals, hitting hard and finding first use + clearances. Can't fault him at all.

Increasingly I think JOM will only ever be truly damaging when he is a member of a dominant mid field group. Finding it difficult to be THE man !!
Conversely just love Worps sheer enthusiasm and attack. Two years time with a fully conditioned AFL body will be a star and well on the way to being a Captain contender. We need more James Worpels.

I agree. I don't think he was faking either. Just stating that regardless of whether or not he milked it, the action by Hawkins is an illegal act and a free kick should have been paid to Sicily for it.

Will go down as one of the great draft steals of ours over the years including the Sammy Mitch steal. Wills himself from contest to contest, has a touch of class about him and mongrel too and has improved his disposal in a season tenfold already. Future captain for mine
