I think people need to temper their expectations in regards to Reid. We aren’t matching the absurd numbers that Essendon is allegedly offering him which means if we lose Allan it’s probably for a draft pick. I’m not sure we want to be put in to a position where we’re losing our most promising young talent for a lottery ticket.

Eagles will be coming hard with a big offer.

Alot of his family is in Melbourne these days.
How big can their offer be for a kid who hasn't been playing regular 1st footy? In 2 years he will be in a position to command good $$ if he performs at the Pies, which I think he will.

I think he needs to be playing seniors each week, and he will be looked after. The only reason he leaves will be because we keep him in the VFL.

I don’t know. I love him and think he still has scope for a whole new level, but when you look at our list, at who has currency and who we would be able to mitigate the loss of, Hill gets to the top of the list (Harrison, Hayes). I certainly would not do it for draft picks but of course if Allan, Hill and a pick gets you Reid I think you take the chance.

Who in their right mind is effectively trading a Reid for a Allan? Nonsensical - he is a generational player. Would we trade NDaicos, and then spend big on Ed Allan??

We don’t have a top 5 pick. Allan isn’t worth a top 10 pick and Liam Ryan is fit and playing. And West Coast FD isn’t full of morons.

Throw in Cameron as well and you might be talking - if they rate Allan highly enough.

Put it this way, if Reid is adamant he’s leaving Hill/Allan/Pick is a better option for West Coast than 2x late firsts from Geelong for example.

They can demand three top 5 picks as much as they like but no club has that on hand.

I think the thought is being entertained in the scenario (albeit a rather nightmarish one) where those players want to go back west

We can use that pick to trade for an established player that can come in and immediately play a role though.

Maybe we turn that pick into Rowell

Not sure if this is the right way to go (we will probably know better towards the end of the season), but it looks like this could be the offseason to potentially "reset" if we have the desire to trade players that still have some value with all of the following players potentially on the table at the end of the season: Reid, Butters, Rowell, LDU, Richards.

Probably the best opportunity we will get to give Nick Daicos a midfield partner for the next 6 to 8 years, however will require trading some of the following: Maynard, Hill, Cameron, De Goey, Allen.
