Yes we lose it, so tell me who we use it on?
Answer the question. 3rd time I have asked.
Answer my questions

exactly how much cap space will we lose if we don't spend it on Vibes?

Why must we spend on one player only?

Why does it have to be this year?

I'm getting to the point atm from your posts, that I hope the repeat the mistakes just to see you go off your collective banana lol
I'm lifelong St Kilda, red white and black runs through my veins.

Being a St Kilda fan builds character- learning to handle struggle.

Dealing with pain is part and parcel, we all know that. I just don't understand why we're actively inviting more!

So if Howard doesn’t go around again next season & this is also Cordy’s last, would we look at someone who you think would come cheap, maybe Charlie Dean?
Ex Sandringham Dragons player, who played 8 games last season but hasn’t broken into Collingwoods team this year.
Having a pretty good game in the 2’s against the D hawks
Dean is more an interceptor than a lockdown Howard type

Would much rather target James Blanck or Jordan Butts as backups to Aleer

So you won't answer three times.
We lose the extra cap.if we don't use it, so who do we use it on without using draft capital?
Fourth time I have asked. All you have is criticism without solution.
You can't answer the question because there is no other FA that is worth spending it on. So it is getting more and more obvious your spamming of the forum is to troll and nothing else.

He's going to keep being one of our best players with TDK in the team?

Grundy, gawn, darcy, jackson say no.
He doesn't need to be our best player, but is he still top 5? Is is the second best forward we have?

How does he operate when we can move him back, move him forward and have him ruck around the ground?

Getting rid of Marshall for a mid 20's pick is complete insanity

Answer my questions!

Then I'll answer yours (again- I've already answered multiple times previously)

We lose the extra cap.if we don't use it, so who do we use it on without using draft capital?
Again- the potency in this question depends how much "it" is.

Hence my questions to you.

They logically precede any other discussion.

So it is getting more and more obvious your spamming of the forum is to troll and nothing else.
You're the only one spamming here buddy.

Ok

If we don’t use it this year, we lose it.

Which 3 or so players would you like us to target that DONT also cost us draft picks?

How good do you think they’ll be if we have to split that amount between them? Quantity is not always better than quality.

This is our chance to get a player of need ( yes - Roma is getting on a bit and therefore more prone to injuries) We need someone to bridge the gap until Dodson ( hopefully) without costing anything but salary cap - which we need to spend.

Hope that clarifies things.

Their system seems so well drilled and really selfless. No-one is going for personal glory, they look for teammates and block and harass for each other. Geelong similar. They just know what they are meant to do and can bring in a new player and expect them to know how to play it.

Having players work into space for the kicker helps too. We seem to stand still and pressure the ball carrier into mistakes.
The standing still part is the most annoying. They need to get their GPS numbers up and get moving.

You literally don't have to use it. TDK will still be eating up a large amount of cap in 8 years. Carlton have been hamstrung by some of their ridiculous contracts to guys like McGovern and Williams. Also had to let players like Kennedy and Owies walk out to save money.

Aleer looks useless ... apart from going the spoil and even then he has missed some

Nothing like over rating players

Apparently Barratt and Tauru went alright last night playing that stopper role. Seems a weird one.

You do this same line every time. We nearly maxed the cap under Gags. There are downsides to overpaying kids but downsides to paying huge value long contracts for B graders too.

List management needs to be managed for now and a long way down the track.

Spent all summer telling me Owies is no loss ya chode.

We’d have 2 big contracts, not half the list like Carlton.

Please have a lie down!

That’s the dilemma we are in - GC etc have multiple options multiple chances to get it right …we have to take calculated risks to even stay competitive….shit sandwich
I agree Marshall seems popular across the group ….question is: do you get more from the TDK transaction with Marshall as a 70/30 forward first ? Or a trade for an additional player in another area of need ?
I don’t like trading Marshall ….butbif I can turn him into a top pick or another strong mid….very tempting
We are a kpf short, Ro / TDK rotating solves that. Plus insurance re: max getting on the park. The only way I would consider a swap is for one of the gun mids. Anything else is only incremental and would rather keep our culture in tact. Plus Ro is a big fan favourite if that matters any more

Talking about Ro as if trading him the club would implode.

Plugger left and we play in a GF 2 years later.

No single player is bigger then the club, I'd trade roo, Lenny etc if it meant we win a GF.

Same with Nas, I hope he stays obviously but if he chooses to leave we best maximise our returns and keep bringing in quality high end picks.

Losing Roma at 30 is one thing.
Losing NAS, around 22ish with his entire career ahead of him, and where the team is currently at with youth - completely different. It would be a disaster.

Actually proves my brother right. Plays his best games when the side loses. The opposite to Hewett who is the barometer.
Because his clearances are terrible. When he dominates his opposing ruck he wastes it by hack kicking every clearance - the same way Marshall did at times last year

I hope this can be taught out of him though - especially since he'll always have Nas/Sinc/Wood/Hill etc running on the outside for the handball receive, something he doesnt really have at Carlton

Hence why I said I hope he stays.
Yea, I know, but you did say the club is bigger than any player.

At this stage, with NAS, where we are at with this rebuild, I’m not sure it is. Losing the most elite player we’ve had for years, after spotting, drafting and developing him would be a disaster. We’re building a young team team around him.

I reckon the club would go into a tailspin like if he left.
Whatever picks we get, there’s no guarantee we get a player of the same calibre. He’s a youngster still, and his ceiling is just limitless.

L get anyone as good as him - and he’s still got so much further development in him.

I have to disagree in regards to going into a tailspin.

It would be very unfortunate to lose Nas, but as a club we'd move on pretty quickly.

Our goal of winning a premiership would not change, we'd still turn up for round 1 and we'd still being getting games into the youngsters.

And you do this all the time.

Scream for the club to retain its draft picks and hit free agency.

So they do. They look like finally nailing one using the 105% cap advantage it has built up and you carry on like a pork chop.

What we know is that every gun Ruckman rates TDK. We know Gawn thinks this bloke will be the premier ruck for the next decade.

We know that any A grade player will make bank of us.

We offered a similar deal to Merrett who is older.

Front load first part of TDK's "massive" contract with excess salary cap funding, pay the balance of TDK's salary with Marshall's current contract, trade Marshall and take whatever you get for Marshall and our 2026 1st rounder and throw it at whatever A grader mid you reckon you can shake loose.

I don't rate him but they obviously need a small forward. I know it's rare but occasionally I'm wrong.
