So out of the three losses the pies have had this year...2 have been interstate funny that ...they now have 5 games at the MCG in the last 6 rounds

This comp is just F**ked....
The umps tried hard for them tonight. Doesn't matter if it's at the G or not, they'll come to their rescue.

D. Cameron was ordinary tonite. Just sayin
he was just beaten by the 2nd best ruck in the comp, nothing wrong with being beaten by Witts or Gawn, sometimes the size and player are better.

As much as it’s dirty to say No other mid can run with him… that’s why he doesn’t get tagged… he knows when and where to run and just burns people off.… if we only had someone with half the football brain he has in the midfield.
He's a jet but give me the Bont or Rowell any day.

He's a good player no doubt. But paying up for a ruck is pure stupidity.

Tim English is the only ruck in the top 8 teams that has cost anything close to a first rounder...and he was a very late one at that.

Broken record but you don't pay up for ruckman

I think he only had 14 in the last so not a factor to comment on
Yeah that was his brother who had one of the genuinely great fourth quarters you’ll ever see.

Nick lurked for the cheapies and let his oppo kill the game.

Barely any of his space comes from burning people off.

He walks to where people aren’t, which sounds like a knock but it’s not, he’s incredibly smart at it.

The only time he ever runs is when he can get a one two off his own kick, everything else is walk into space, don’t over commit to a pack, he’s incredibly good at making space by using **** all energy.

But he’s also a defensive liability who plays for himself, and it’s nice to see other teams notice that and expose him by either putting their best mid on him or actually paying him some defensive attention because he can’t win his own pill at the coalface.

Correct though, nobody can run with him which I think scares coaches off, but the tag consistently ****s him up and teams refuse to commit to it.

The Nick Diacos one was the best/worst ..takes possession of the ball gets tackled drops it in front of the ump ..gets the free for not in possession ..like wtf
Yeah dead set cheating...like I said in the gameday thread, I have no respect for this Collingwood side. I mean they're good, well coached, I like some of their players, like Pendles, Elliott, but I can't respect the results.

King 8D, 3M, 2.1

Walter 6D, 3M, 0.2

Reid 7D, 1M, 1.1

Still reckon Ainsworth is the biggest issue. Bloke has skated through his whole career as a C grade player in the suns team.
Walter will be a gun.

Can't understand people knocking him tbh
They’re just too similar and makes them too predictable. They’re all individually very talented and every team would love to have one of them in their squad.

But all three want the footy booted long into a pack rather than leading toward the ball carrier, and as soon as the defender inevitably gets it, they are too lumbering to apply any meaningful pressure to win it back.

They’d be infinitely more dangerous replacing one of them with a guy like Waterman leading toward the mids and creating space

friend of mine just messaged and said AFL need to drug test this GC side, they can't play that good:D:D

we're mandated to hit the minimum salary cap spend somehow, and we've lost McGovern, Sheed, Kelly on reduced wages, and potentially Allen

we're desperately lacking in the ruck department

idk it kind of makes sense to me, even if his contract is front loaded and seems overs

unlikely harley is going to turn around and sign a mega deal

I'd take the Albany boy. Need to develop our kids around a good ruck providing good supply.

Ralphs such a flipping idiot, trying to make out Rowell's pushed Daicos into the ump, Dunstal put the idiot in his place and said what everyone could see.
Didn't think Ralph could look more of a moron than he normally does but he's managed to one up himself

Pendlebury has a lazy 17 in a half.
Amazing what never getting on a plane (and resting when you do) does for aging players

Agree is a superstar though

I legitimately think If Pendles plays the entire game Pies win.

Baffling decision to start him as sub, a gift for the Suns. Collingwood couldn't get absolutely anything going and kicked all their goals only after he came on.

Nah, you need to actually sit at a game where you have no emotional investment in the result and just watch the guy ..

The game against Brisbane he made all their mids look stupid trying to figure out how to stop him.. he totally blew up Berry and Dunkley who tried to look hook onto him and had them gassed by halftime..

The centre square sets up that If he does have pressure on him that he pulls back to hit the second possession in the centre at speed and take it away..

He is probably the closest player to a Daniel Kerr that I’ve seen but with a bit better endurance.. and when it’s his time to go he goes….. and he can get one twos because he out runs his man from possession to possession, not from any cheap squib efforts

I know its difficult to compare different Premeirship teams, but West Coast (2018), Richmond (2017, 2019 & 2020), Hawthorn (2013, 2014 & 2015), Brisbane (2001, 2002 & 2003) and Geelong (2007, 2009 & 2011) would beat this Collingwood team.

Since McRae took over as coach for the 2022 season, Collingwood have registered a total of 64 wins, however 26 of those wins have been single digit margins wins. That's 40.6% of wins being in single digit in terms of winning margins - a high percentage.

The year they won the Premiership (2023), throughout that Finals series they played in 3 Finals games for 3 wins:

Qualifying Final
7 point win against Melbourne

Preliminary Final
1 point win against GWS

Grand Final
4 point win against Brisbane

This Collingwood team is good but "not that good" if you know what I mean. Close result wins margins wise means they know how to win close game/close games out but there's also an element of luck too and they have been very lucky over the last few years.

What it shows is that the competition as a whole is pretty weak, no real standouts depthwise in terms of other teams. If you're an opposition team who's good enough then you should be thinking "yep we can beat Collingwood"
