I have watched virtually zero of the Demons/Petracca this year apart from the Lions game.

Is it true to suggest that Rayner has had a better season than Petracca this year?
Petracca could still be the best player in the game imo but he lost his zest for it once Moore poleaxed him and it nearly ended his life.

I don't say that in any vindictive way but it was an unnecessary transgression that it seems Moore has doubled down on.

Yep, imagine the outcry if Dayne Zorko was kneeing players in the back regularly.

Na , kneeing them in the back is cool.

Just don't call them names . That's 4 or 5 weeks .

Plus it being regurgitated all over SM for the rest of your career. And beyond that.

It's a mental thing.Looking at his arms last week not having seen any seconds games he is a powerful man and definitely big enough
I’m talking core strength, body strength.

The ability to hold one’s position at a ball up or throw in, when two rucks are pushing and shoving each other.

Smith was pushed out of position pretty easily by McStay, Mihocek and even Markov. Darcey Cameron only had to lean on Smith, to move him out of the contest.

He's tall, with high hips, so he has a high center of gravity. Nor has he built up his legs yet. He needs to add muscle strength through his thighs and hamstrings, and really needs to build that core strength to compete adequately against first choice rucks.

Big biceps are great for the looks, but they're not helping Smith compete in actual ruck contests yet.

Years ago during their premiership run, Hawthorn snared their missing jigsaw piece in Brian Lake at Fullback. They went on to win the flag the year after, with Lake winning the Norm Smith medal. That's what the situation we're in now I reckon. We're rebuilding on the run, whilst still in the premiership window. Our kids are coming along in leaps & bounds - all of them! If we can get Allen & Draper, that would be huge. As a smokey, I'd like us to have a crack at Jake Lever from Melbourne. It would be great to have that 2nd/3rd tall defender who is a good intercept mark & experienced, good player.

Yet to sign: All 220 out-of-contract players in the AFL named

Brisbane (14)

Callum Ah Chee, Luke Beecken, Darcy Craven, Sam Day, Darcy Gardiner, Darragh Joyce, Ryan Lester, Linc McCarthy, Conor McKenna, Deven Robertson, Brandon Ryan, Brandon Starcevich, James Tunstill, Dayne Zorko.

There is a fair bit of work for the Lions still to do, predominantly trying to secure Starcevich’s signature. The restricted free agent is still a strong possibility of staying, but has interest from his home state of Western Australia and Victorian clubs. Fellow premiership players Zorko, Ah Chee, Lester and McKenna are also yet to ink deals beyond this season – but McCarthy will continue in 2026 after spending the year out recovering from an ACL rupture. Zorko usually likes to wait until late in the year before rolling over for another season. Robertson has toyed with leaving for years, and his strong VFL form has garnered interest from multiple opposition clubs. Ryan won’t hit the trigger in his contract to automatically roll into 2026.

That’s good to know Ryan was only two years so that will get him off our books.
I mean, yeah, but sounds harsh when you say it like that. I think he was always insurance, but not needed now.

The 99% certain to be either delisted, retire or traded on that list of 14 players are Brandon Ryan, Dev Robertson, Sam Day, Darcy Craven IMO.

Sam Day could possibly get another year if we miss out on both Oscar Allen and Sam Draper/another ruck.

Conor McKenna a chance to retire and return home, if not I think we'd be happy to give him another year.

Lever would be nice, but he's contracted until 2028, and a few clubs are interested and will be bidding up his price. North in particular have been mentioned and they can surely throw bags of cash at him. Also didn't he specifically request a trade from Adelaide to be in Victoria?

I reckon the bargain bin version of Lever is Ethan Phillips as I mentioned earlier.

Fages said on 360 that Smith has grown a lot in the past few years which has been the cause of his injuries and he is now 207cm.
Great point of difference for our forward line, think he’ll get all the opportunity he needs to make it as our fwd/ruck as long as he’s injury free

Another left field idea. What about training Gallop as a back man. If you have watched any VFL you can plainly see his love in tackling and going hard at defense. I feel that with OA coming in next Ty’s chances playing forward will be roadblocked. I think he has the key abilities to be a defender.

Not a bad idea to train him there anyway. Our tall forwards should be fine for the next five years, though obviously things can change. Our tall backs on the other hand look a bit precarious. We don’t really have anyone ready to step in / replace Andrews, Payne, Gardiner. For this reason alone I’d be re-signing Gardiner.

Ethan Phillips was on the Hawks list last year, played 1 game, not sure if he was injured during that year. Hawks delisted him so they must view him as not AFL worthy, I have no memory of him.

Would you view him as a better option than Darragh Joyce(OOC) even if it's only for depth?

FWIW I didn't mind the look of Jacob Blight albeit I only saw minimal glimpses during his time at the Tigers.

Gettable mentioning that starce has interest from norf, west coast and the bombers 🤢🤢🤢

Starce buddy, I promise it is not worth it to go to any of them. Don’t do it to yourself.

I genuinely wonder, if you have severe concussion concerns is going to a club that is going to be getting bombarded by d50 ball and being surrounded by spuds a great option?

Just turned 26yo. I guess if he has say 6 years left that is enough time for any team to rise.

Maybe i am delusional but i still think North has the list out of the 3 that could bounce very quickly. There is such a gap between their on-field efforts and the talent on paper it is starting to feel like it must be coaching.

They are just missing a couple of big bodies in the forward and backlines. Totally makes sense for them to go after someone like Gardiner (especially a better option than Daniel) to give experience and teach the young guys.

It would leave us very short for key defenders though. Joyce would absolutely need to be signed on for at least another year

He's one concussion away from retirement. If he can make bank moving I would absolutely do it in his shoes.

Any contract from any club will have a concussion clause in it. It's a matter of Brandon picking the right one for him and it's not necessrily about $. My heart goes out to the bloke & his family.:disappointed::cry:
