We are thinking of trading our best tackler for potentially our best goal kicker. I'm ok with that if other players step up their tackling.

Problem is as decent as he is, he’s very one positioned and one dimensional. We may want to make the midfield more fluid so to speak and Mills can do Rowbottoms role while getting it 25 times.

If it saves a first rounder more than okay with this trade

Personally I'd prefer we keep Hawyward than Rowy.

I think Rowy is more replaceable with Sheldrick/Mills/Jordan

A medium forward who provides a good target and can kick 40 a season are hard to find.

Other than his sister being up there, I just don't see how Rowbottom is a list need for the Suns. They're shedding mdfielders already, and they're about to draft and shed even more. Rowbottom to the Suns makes zero sense.

Trading Rowbottom also makes zero sense for the Swans, we need guys like him. He can be a hack kick sure, but he's a devil in the defensive midfield role and frees up others to be more attacking.

100 percent agree but that hack kick you speak of invariably falls into opposition hands. Turnovers kill you at anytime but the way we set up the ground this year those turnovers smashed us. Particularly when opposition sides gained or retained momentum getting run on's kill you. Your mids defensive or not need composure not panic. Love his heart but for something half decent he is not expendable.

although I dont hate it, we have clearly decided that this is the only house we are going to live in and we are going to part with whatever we have to get it. it appears to me that we are willing to pay whatever the seller wants in order to get it

the three for 1 arrangement carries a great deal of downside and charlie needs to be so much better than what we currently have - which is basically better than logan or amartey unless we decide amartey is going to be our second ruck (which i dont hate tbh)

geelong are behaving so much more strategically - their offer is in the ballpark but allows them to watch and decide how much we are willing to offer

We were beaten up so badly around the ground in 22 and 24 such that even if we had Jesus and God in the forward line we wouldn't have won.

IDK I reckon Spangher and Ablett would have been pretty handy.

whatever his weakness was kicking wise, sheldricks dwarf. Maybe sheldrick improves with additional experience, but it is a massive flaw currently and hes likely to get more game time with this proposal

If two firsts something surely something would come back to us.

Florent is more of a salary dump than anything else, doesn't hold much value, is probably worth a late second/ early third currently (Which we need for points).

Crux of the trade would be Rowbottom, our first and another selection (likely our F1).

If we are unhappy with it (we are) and Carlton fans are unhappy with it (read their board, they are), its probably on the money in terms of value.



You have to give up quality to get quality, Curnow is one of the best forwards in the league and would have a huge impact with our side next year.

On the flip side, we didn't win those GFs with our current personnel, so we desperately need to change something. Everyone was applauding Cox when he said we might be ruthless but now we have Carlton picking though our list we act like each player is the key to our next premiership.

I don't want to lose Hayward or Rowbottom, but I'll get over it if we do.

I really don't see why Carlton would want Rowbottom. It's very possible he's being mentioned as part of a multi club deal though.
