Swans have made their offer for Charlie Curnow. About as good as it likely gets for the Blues - see if they're willing to move him. It does improve the Swans, although it is a reasonably high price. Neither side would be entirely satisfied - for Carlton it's not enough for a superstar, but for Swans it might be seen as too much.

That's an absolute bounty for Calrton! I would be jumping at that!

Given his age and knee problems, plus they still have McKay to play power forward, I would agree. They get 2 seasoned, useful players, plus 2 bonus hits at the first round over the next 2 years.

But they seem to want a superstar (or maybe just a star) player such as Gulden or Warner in return.

So if we want to draft we need to open up 2 senior listed spots, Delisting and Redrafting Stone is easy then whos the other, is it Aleer?

Curnow will be 29 at the start of next season and has had multiple knee operations. Good player but I would not call him a superstar. Big risk for the swans.

That's a big call, I think he's arguably the best tall forward in the comp. He won a few Coleman's in a row. It's only he has been disgruntled recently that he hasn't been trying as hard. He would push the swans to a flag if they acquire him I think and that offer from the swans seems fair as their tall forwards are ordinary.

I think that Stone, Cogs and Aleer are the most likely candidates.

It might hurt for Cogs, but I would presume he's enough of a team man to take the hit and not be at risk of doing a Greenwood.

Stone might be more of a risk to do a Greenwood ... but I guess in that case he wasn't really committed to us.

I still think that Aleer is a candidate. After Saints screwed him good, no other club has shown much interest. While they might be circling like buzzards waiting for an ultra-cheap delisting, he might be prepared to wait it out for a guaranteed PSSP selection with the club he didn't really want to leave. We'd probably offer him some sort of olive branch that we'll give him more $ when we can.

Otherwise, there might be a couple of guys who put their hand up.

If Aleer gets 3 years more he has to be main listed. The delist and re-draft candidates would have to likely have 1 year left and somebody unlikely to be taken/don't care if they get taken. With Jones and Kelly LTI they will get upgraded straight away. Stringer could be an option.

I don't see why he would have to be main listed? A player can be rookie listed for 3 years. They could also be upgraded in that time too.

If cogs did a Greenwood it would be a big relief. A massive salary off the books for a contract that has provided little output. They should have actually tried to shop him to the eagles for leadership and used the money to 'go fishing' for some talent.

I would put that down to a culture vs talent decision around list management.

GREATER Western Sydney has tabled its future third-round pick for Clayton Oliver as negotiations trickle on over the Melbourne midfielder's move to the Giants. The Giants are keen to land Oliver for the cut-price deal, with Melbourne set to contribute a sizeable portion of his remaining five-year contract.
GREATER Western Sydney will delist and re-rookie Conor Stone, as the club attempts to juggle its list spots heading into the final 24 hours of the trade period. The Giants are tight for list spots and will add Clayton Oliver from Melbourne on Wednesday, while they will also have to accommodate Leek Aleer's unexpected return.
The move means Stone will be eligible to be picked up by a rival club, but the Giants are confident he will return next season and see out his contract on the rookie list. The Giants had been planning to use the list mechanism with Stone after Oliver became available earlier in the trade period, while they're investigating further options given Aleer's recent situation. Aleer is set to re-sign at the Giants on a revised three-year contract, after St Kilda pulled its long-held interest in him last week and North Melbourne decided against pursuing a move for him on Tuesday. The Giants currently have 35 contracted players on their senior list, but will add Oliver and re-sign Aleer before November's national draft where more youngsters will be added to Adam Kingsley's group. – Riley Beveridge

Who is responsible for this situation? Any club can 'do a Greenwood' and then the club would have a lot of explaining to do.

Seems chickens were counted before they were hatched. Why the rush to recontract players before the trading period was over?

Clayton Oliver has been presented a five-year deal at GWS, with Melbourne to pay about half of his current wage.
Greater Western Sydney offered Melbourne a 2026 third-rounder in exchange for the decorated star.
The Giants are only willing to part with that third-rounder from next year’s draft for Oliver and have made clear they also have only a certain salary in mind to pay him.
The Demons would likely have to pay about $600,000-$700,000 of his $1.3 million salary next year and until 2030, with his management working with Melbourne on whether they can make that deal work.
The alternative is that he stays at Melbourne on his full wage given the Giants have a reasonably tight salary cap and will retain Leek Aleer on a three-year deal.
