Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Playing VFL this season means he is now a C grader on an overpriced contract.

If he hasn’t performed under Cox why do we think he will under Voss?

He played 16 AFL games in 2025, 2 as sub. He played the last 4 games when they won 3 out of 4.

Yep, I’d suggest Voss was guilty of not enforcing standards and behaviours where they needed to be (wouldn’t have been alone here) for the club to advance further up the ladder. Tbh i think that is more with our better players than our foot soldiers so if he gets better buy in from the stars (think over and above just words) and with the likely influx of better soldiers we may be surprised next year.

Our coach is the counter productive problem.

Had we sacked him like we should have months ago this Charlie trade is not even happening.

I've heard two stories now, and neither suggest Voss is Charlie's problem. We have him for another year at least, so we may as well back him in and hope for the best.

What worries me the most about losing pick 22 is Melbourne getting their hands on 7 + 8 for Trac.

I can see them bidding on Dean with one of those...

If it's pick 8 = 1299 points after 10% discount.

pick 22 is 686 points... so we lose that and we're in trouble...

The worst outcome if we trade 22 is, we'll likely have to use 10 to match the Dean bid.

But then we will take 11 to the draft.

So no chance of Lindsay/Grjl/Robey with that.

Top 10-15 prospects not tied to academy or F/S are probably:

We then of course have nothing to match an Ison bid too unless we trade some players like Acres, Gov, Fog etc.

So? We'll have 10 + 11.

100% agree. Swans should be paying bulk if not all of Hayward and Florent salary for duration of the contract they signed.
They do that, I'd be more open to a trade but they need to turn pick 11 into a top 6 pick too.

When looking at a players value it often comes down to recent form/output. I mean Sydney are doing it with Charlie saying he has a bung knee, had a bad year etc. Well Florent despite being durable and having prior top 10 B&F finishes based largely on that durability, fell out of the best 22 and has a lengthy contract for a role player. That puts him into steak knives territory even if he improves our best 22. And before the Florent defenders come at me, I'm not saying he's a bad player. Just given the circumstances he is steak knives in this trade.

This year he rated below average for disposals, effective disposals, kicks, handballs, tackles and inside 50s.. so you can see why he got dropped to the VFL. He holds limited to zero value in a trade based on Sydney pretty desperately wanting to move him on and rid themselves of the lengthy contract. If we want him it should be a separate deal to the Charlie one.

The other factor to consider here is that a 4 year contract on decent money means if he's not in our best 22 it's a waste of $$$. He also takes a spot away from the likes of Carroll, Wilson or maybe even Charleson. I don't mind bringing him in for a cheap pick but to think he holds any value in a Charlie trade is out of touch with the reality of the situation.

I also don't see why we have to throw a pick back to Sydney. If they want him they pay overs. Pick 22 won't happen. I can see us giving a token pick but I think given the situation we really shouldn't have to. I think many are just so disillusioned by Charlie not loving the club anymore that they are forgetting just how damn good he is. Up and going he's the best and most dangerous forward in the game and he lifts them up the ladder next year making their F1 not worth as much.

I can't help but be reminded of Geoff Southby and his determination to play for South Melbourne back in the day. Carlton said no, he sat out half a season before relenting. Finished his career as a Carlton Legend and in my opinion, our greatest ever full-back.

It would be pretty easy to get carried away with your own success and importance. It would certainly test your ability to keep both feet on the ground and not led astray by thoughts that the World is your oyster and you can do what you like.

Charlie would benefit from sitting around a campfire with ex AFL Stars like himself who can reflect and share their stories with how differently they would think and behave if they had their time over again.

TDK offered a contract by St. Kilda that no player in the league would refuse. Doc, retired, I don't even know how he enters this discussion. SOS, a player who's never played often enough to cement his place in the team, if you listen to some, felt entitled as well. Charlie,wants a change, I dont think any of it is the club's responsibility.
