I’m devastated by this illegal capture of an elected head of state by Trump.

I live in constant fear my beloved leader, Albo who lives at 5 Adelaide Avenue, Deakin, ACT share the same fate. He’s usually home with Jodie by 9pm.

Odd thing to hope for.

Odd thing to laugh react to. (Above)

Not even remotely the same.

Taiwan is an economically strong democracy not an economic basket case dictatorship which has seen 8 million people flee the country like Venezuela.

Trump, at least publically plans on giving venezuela back to the people through democratic elections.

China plans on ending democracy in taiwan.
Everything about Trump screams democracy.

America First! End the forever wars! And so on… Will MAGA wake up to these con artists? Doubtful :(

As for Maduro being a dictator etc. Well yes. This isn’t in dispute. I guess diplomacy is all too hard for this particular administration (like others before it) and the only way to “fix” the problem is through violence and illegitimate means.

The current President has zero capacity (mental, physical etc) to see this through and will soon grow bored/tired of it all. More suffering and chaos ahead for the people of Venezuela :(
If it keeps the Epstein files out of the news he might continue to run with it until Greenland.

Do you think Trump genuinely wants to end the war in Ukraine?

I think he does.

He campaigned on ending it. He’s been sending his envoy back and forth between the two countries. He’s met with Putin in Alaska. He’s met Zelenskyy numerous times in the White House.

So assuming Trump wants to end it, how would he have any chance of mediating a peaceful outcome unless he treats Putin with respect?

Trump doesn’t have to treat Zelenskyy with respect because Zelenskyy doesn’t have any choice of leaving the negotiating table.

By contrast Putin can tell Trump to GAGF if he wants to.

Russia invaded Ukraine, it feels like you've forgotten this.

Trump has said he wants to end the war. He’s never called for a just ending.

How is how it started in any way relevant to Trump?

Mate, I’m not sure if you’re serious or not.
He campaigned on it?
Like lowering inflation? ( then introducing enormous tariffs and doing nothing to actually lower prices?)
Like releasing the Epstein files, then illegally redacting them?
Lowering debt but adding to it?
Like improving health access but cancelling subsidies and massively increasing insurance premiums?

Why would he keep this specific promise, do you think?

I dispute your initial assumption, and thus the logic that flows from there.

Zelenskyy is corrupt and won't have an election, that is completely fair to say and does not mean you support Putin, obviously.

The US does not want to fully enter the Russian-Ukraine war for OBVIOUS reasons, they are giving Ukraine just enough to defend themselves. Also, the US doesn't have the money to give Ukraine unlimited amounts. This does not mean he supports Putin.

Trump is trying to negotiate with Putin to end the war, Putin has a big ego. Why would publicly calling Putin bad names help negotiation?

None of these are good arguments that Trump is pro-Putin. Trump has also put on heavier economic sanctions on Russia, and has publicly said many times he is not happy with Putin, and has said Putin has killed many people.

Forget about left/right, ur arguments are really just quite weak but you act like they're concrete.

Aw mate. It’s a bit tiring re-litigating this shit over and over.

I’m sure you’re aware of the rules around Martial law in Ukraine and elections. So continuing to say VZ is corrupt and “won’t hold elections” is just a pro-Russian propaganda line.

As is the idea that the US doesn’t have enough money - Spare me.

Putin has a big ego, and so does Trump. He wants to end the war so he can get a Peace Prize. Ukraine be damned.

Is it possible for the hatred of the Orange Man to be put aside and acknowledge that millions of Venezuelans may actually be ecstatic with these developments?

Even if some Venezuelans welcome outside pressure on Maduro, that doesn’t make military intervention, regime removal by force, and US control of the country from DC acceptable. Sympathy for people suffering shouldn’t be used to excuse actions that set dangerous precedents and kill people.

If they put this through the UN or even their own congress is would have lent some legitimacy to the exercise. It just confirms the US presidency is a total law upon itself with nothing in one person's way to stop them. That's quite concerning.

Regime change driven by the US in the past has mostly had terrible outcomes

That is a fair comment…. Although how many people did the US kill in this operation as opposed to how many have been, killed, imprisoned, displaced in the last 2 decades?
Surely a line has to be drawn somewhere?
