Training 2026 Preseason

imadoka why are you against full strength beer at Optus Stadium? (you know, like every other stadium in the world)
it's more the difficulty of getting out of your seat at Optus mid game unless you are on the aisle. And apparently a powerade bottle is "uncouth"

My conspiracy theory is the Data Leak Stadium kegs are watered down anyway. I rarely buy it because of the price but when I do it's basically brown coloured piss

It feels like it when it's spilled on you, which I suspect will happen more frequently with stronger drinks.

Geez there is a lack of comments on training going on here.
On that note I may not have mentioned him much but I do agree withy the positivity coming out on some online reports saying Karl Worner could be a breakout player in 2026. His training is first class and he is running really well. He basically goes unnoticed a fair bit because of how he just gets the job done in match sims. I also haven't noticed many (if any) kicking errors unlike last preseason. If Ryan is out he'll start in the team and if Ryan is ready to go I can't pick who will play out of Worner and Simpson.

Maybe in many years past the beer may have been watered down, but today....... I think not. No know not.
I don't drink at the footy, but i understand that six full strength will do far more damage than six mid. And I have seen what 1/2 strength does to some around where I sit.

real possibility Jom goes from playing state of origin to WAFL in round 1…
That word "possibility" is working it's butt off here.

Longmuir plays him at every possible opportunity, and he is in the leadership group.

I mean you can cherry pick stats to suit your argument, but it's complete hogwash.

Max Gawn has averaged 22 games a year for the last 4 years, and 20 games a year for 8 years.. Grundy 22 games a year for the last two years and also the majority of his career. Tim English has played 23 games a year for the last 3 years, and averaged almost 21 games a year for seven years. Jarrod Witts has averaged 20 games a year for the last four years. Hell, even Reilly O'brien has averaged 21.8 games a year for the last 5 years.

It is possible to be durable and a quality ruckman - the two aren't mutually exclusive. If you look at the Gawn, Grundy and English, the common denominator is their match preparation has long been exemplary. The fact is Sean was drafted with question marks about his off-field habits and the way it reflected on his conditioning. He has now had a long career with injury issues. He has had plenty of time to take some torque off his pivots. Hopefully this season the penny has dropped.
Gawn wasn't consistently playing 20+ games a season until 2018 in his 9th season in the afl. He only achieved that 2 times before that time and still had a 14 game season post that time. Same likely applies to a few of your half assed examples too but I cbf checking.

I know there’s a training report around here somewhere…

Training Report

Went down and checked out training overnight. Heres what I saw

Sean Darcy complained that his calf was sore, but our strength and conditioning staff sent him back out into match sims. Saw him then tear his calf completely and as he was being carried off his torso and face seemed to start swelling up. Heard the trainers saying something about water weight.

Jaeger O'Meara dominated, and at the end of the session the staff wandered over to shake his hand. Heard them congratulating him on his contract extension and guaranteed spot in the midfield for the next 5 years.

Bailey Banfield had 12 turnovers from 14 possessions. Heard the coaching staff on the sidelines clapping and saying "that's why you're playing a pivotal role in the starting 22 in round 1 Bailey, keep it up"

Serong, Brayshaw, Jackson, Young, Treacy, Pearce, Clark, Reid, Bolton etc etc etc all dominated as expected, but I heard them in a huddle conspiring to request a mass trade because they didn't like the draft index point calculations in the associated pick swap from the Judd McVee trade.

Overall pretty standard training session imo

I was there as well, and can say you've pretty much nailed everything.

The only thing I saw a bit differently was Bailey's stats...it was actually 14 turnovers from 12 possessions, but I'm just nit picking with that one.

I for one would like to hear about Chris Scerri and how he is our next nugget of gold found in that last pan dug out of the draft river right before the end of the day.

Keep an eye out for a big cheer at training.

Apparently he has stood out to such an extent at training to fellow players, our coaches and list manager that he is on the verge of earning a contract, yet our seasoned track observers seem to have no idea who he is.

Yes, those training reporters are crap, almost as bad as our list managers.

Help me out here guys, I'm struggling to see how a trade which occurred before Josh Treacy was even born relates to our 2026 pre season
It's a warm-up hitout for posters to get rid of some rust for when the real stuff starts and we have to argue about how the 23rd player selected is costing us games.
