Coach Justin Longmuir Pt 2

AFL probably think he would get the Sydney market at least a little bit interested in the event.
I'd thought the AFL would be pissed at Cox for taking their nepo babies from 1st to 10th on the ladder in 1 year.

What gives any reason to think that Gia is any better than Corey, Graham or Rawlings?

Coming from Essendon’s footy program is hardly a great endorsement.

I think we are good at getting coaching talent personally.
Not really the point I was making. Do you really think we will land many Victorian Assistant coaches if two big Vic clubs are also putting offers down? Or at least land them consistently enough to not consider it fairly unlikely to happen?
I've never, ever heard the AFL media refer to the three above that you mentioned as 'head coaches in waiting' either.

Nah it was one of those one-in-ten year strategic drop down the ladder so they'd have an extra good pick for Curnow..

Graham, 41, is considered a senior coach in waiting and is interested in stepping up to take the reins at an AFL club in future.

It’s just a bit irrelevant - if a big vic club and us want an assistant coach, they very well may choose Freo if they want to be a head coach and they see us as their best chance to get there.

Travel 11 weeks a year vs travelling 5 weeks.
Same money
Less exposure.

If they want to be an assistant coach, they would more than likely need to move to another state vs a good chance of staying in Vic.

If you had a family you are more than likely choosing a Vic club.

It's our transition from Justin Longmuir to John Longmire through 2026. i get it

Justin Longmire 🤦
I'm not a massive J-Lo fan, I probably never will be. If he ever becomes a Premiership winning coach, fair play to him. He will have persevered like no other.

It's incredulous the level of disrespect he gets shown though, especially in the so-called professional world of journalism. Laughable. He's coming into his 7th year, how hard is it. Really?!?! How hard?!?!

Never ceases to amaze me how many rudderless knob jockeys there are out there, in the world. It's why I end up living mostly like a hermit watching on from afar and avoiding them at all costs. Disgraceful

that's an interesting take Quarnor3

Got a pretty good team at his disposal now.

Do we get an indication of whether we've made any changes in the practice matches? Or will we be playing vanilla until the season starts?
This should become more clear tomorrow with the match sim vs West Coast scheduled in the morning

After 15 minutes of no goals should we prepare the noose?

Serong already admitted they won’t be changing much. Collingwood senior players talking about copying Brisbanes ball movement. Apples and oranges.

Agree it is the right approach- master our plan don’t go chasing the trend every year.

Actually have long felt we move it similarly to Brisbane, but that they have better foot skills coming out of d50, especially those 30m angled kicks to open the game up.

I thought they switched the ball and moved it a lot quickers than we have in the past.
We got players on the other side and got the ball there with skills.

The major flag on this is that it was against the worst team in the comp in a scratch match where we didn’t get out of first gear.

I’m really intrigued to see how we go against Adelaide this week. Will be a far better judge of where we’re at going into the season against a quality side in a similar boat to us wanting to push on this year.

Also the windy conditions we'll barely face all season.

Your not going to get a four goal breeze at Kardinia Park, Optus Stadium, MCG, Adelaide Oval, Docklands etc.

Reckon in more normal conditions the eagles score 2-3 less goals and we're talking about a 40-50 point win.

Anyway pre season form etc. Even how we go against Adelaide this week doesn't make one bit of difference to Round One. Only thing that matters is how we play over the 23 (hopefully 3-4 more) games that actually matter.
